The Spyglass is a newsletter that is sent out monthly by Grey Havens. News of it first appeared on the in-game home page on June 13, 2008.
Unlike PoEmail, The Spyglass is an opt-in newsletter. Players can subscribe to the newsletter from the Spyglass signup page. Also available is a separate and more frequent events update newsletter, including information on current events, contest entries and the winners.
The Spyglass is published on the Puzzle Pirates website, with a brief version being emailed to subscribers. It has replaced the PoEmail newsletter, with subscribers of that being automatically added to main Spyglass mailing list.

The first Spyglass newsletter was sent out on June 21, 2008. The main feature was the release of Puzzle Pirates Adventures, including the new female sleeping hat, permanent shoppe portrait backgrounds, and an offer for 1,000 free Pieces of Eight.
The second Spyglass newsletter was sent out on August 8, 2008. The newsletter's focus was on the Pirate Summer Games Team Competition, which included the new laurels of triumph limited edition headwear, Puzzle Competitions, and various behind the scenes and background information on the new addition.
The third Spyglass newsletter was sent out on September 5, 2008. It introduced the addition of the new foraging puzzle, pet appearances in portraits, and the Monkey boat. The article also discussed the Atlantis Invasions, an event dedicated to doing mass invasions of Atlantean outposts on all of the oceans, and a section dedicated to the wonderful arrrtist, Teuts.
The fourth Spyglass newsletter was sent out on October 23rd, 2008. The primary target of the newsletter was the Trick ARRR Treat Team Competition where players were insisted to retrieve candy by pillaging against brigands and barbarians, also spotlighting on the The Masquerade Ball, a new and mysterious familiar, and finally the Halloween Promotion Bonanza.
