I was considering adding the icons for the pages for each one, ala [Image:sloop.png] - I know that new officers often don't know what to look for to differentiate the merchant class from the war class vessels. Any opinions/preferences on if/how to do it? Alongside the ship name, perhaps? --Bemis 12:19, 2 August 2005 (PDT)

Icons would be good. Now that image uploading works, I'd like see a lot more images in the pages. --Barrister 12:24, 2 August 2005 (PDT)

Should we wikify the rest of the items in the template (as appropriate -- Doubloons, but probably not Max crew) or should we un-wikify the commods? Ojacobson 13:19, 6 August 2005 (PDT)

Nav Stations parameter

Isn't that one a little redundant? Every ship has only 1. --Thunderbird 00:56, 27 March 2006 (PST)

I prefer it there for completeness. --Barrister 01:21, 27 March 2006 (PST)

More ingredients

Could someone add 2 more ingredient fields to this template? I tried but booched it. Thanks! --Barrister 08:12, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

You almost had it - you were just missing a bunch of close braces in that huge pile on the end (they're all nested like that to prevent empty lines turning up when the parameters aren't in use). --Belthazar451 08:25, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Bribe cost parameter

For this new feature, the parameters can be added to the existing Ship pages as the costs are found. Just saying it here so I don't get screamed at for messing up a Template that is transluded to other pages. :S Gunnerfreak on Cerulean 21:38, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Since the bribe costs are not actually in-game yet (I checked this morning after the update had been pushed), so I put a default in there. --Thunderbird 21:56, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
No worries. Thanks for improving my addition to the template. Probably should've thought of that in the first place. Gunnerfreak on Cerulean 22:35, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Handling of the template for ships that aren't built by shipyards

So we have one ship that can only be acquired via DLC, and thus, has no recipe aside from the salvage cost of the base model. I've got two thoughts on how to handle this: 1) Have the template say "Not available for purchase" and just not list a recipe. 2) Have the template list the recipe for the base model, and have a note that the recipe is just for salvaging.

I'm more inclined to go with 1, because even for expired LE ships, we maintain the recipes they had when they were available, instead of falling back to the salvage one. But does anyone else have any thoughts? --Thunderbird 18:44, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

  • Support number one. It seems to have less potential for confusion. Chupchup 04:07, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Put a sandbox at Template:Ship-sandbox. I did check whether it works via previewing. I also left it on the default of "ship can't be purchased" otherwise it'd look the same as this template at first glance. --Thunderbird 16:34, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

I like it, but the wording could use some tweaking. "Not available for purchase" is true for non-current LE ships, too, not just ones that don't have a recipe. "Never available for purchase", maybe? --Budclare2 20:56, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
