We need to redirect one of these pages. Either:

  • Ringer redirects to developer, or vice versa. – Yaten talk 22 July 2005 20:04 (PDT)
Redirected developer to ringer just because ringer is niftier & more YPPish. :) --Guppymomma 23 July 2005 06:16 (PDT)

I'm pasting the info from Ninjaguy's developer page that I didn't incorporate into this page. I think the real names should go on the ringers' individual pages, but if you think they should go here, please pop 'em on. --Guppymomma 16:38, 8 August 2005 (PDT)

You don't think that Cleaver & the OOO crew whips out their harmonicas next to a computer microphone for those noises do you? :) --Guppymomma 08:59, 10 August 2005 (PDT)
Do you really want an answer to that? ;) Rappak 09:04, August 10, 2005 (PDT)

A-Z

The list isn't alphabetized; is it instead in the order that each Ringer joined? (Or left, for the one's who've retired?)

That's what I assumed in the end. I wasn't sure, so left it. --Sagacious (talk) 20:18, 19 May 2006 (PDT)
It's the order joined, I believe. If you check the history, I think you'll find an edit by Cleaver putting everyone in order so we've just stuck with it that way :) --Guppymomma 22:10, 19 May 2006 (PDT)

OMs are Ringers or not?

Some recent forum discussion and a recent petition have raised a question for this article: are Ocean Masters considered Ringers too? This page implies they are not, but common usage has been thus: we use the term "developer" (or "arrrtist" or "Captain") to describe Ringers who are not Ocean Masters, we use "OM" when we refer specifically to the Ocean Masters charged with the duty of moderating the game, and we use "Ringer" when we refer to any employee of Three Rings Design. So perhaps we should discuss current usage, and whether this article should reflect that. Chupchup 15:57, 6 May 2012 (PDT)
