Cut-and-paste move

This article is the victim of a cut-and-paste move which needs to be repaired. User:Therobotdude: Please do not do that. You clearly understand the need to credit editors with their work, so the proper thing to do in this case would have been to move the page with the built-in "Move" function and suppress the redirect that is normally left behind. At this point, an admin can come and perform a histmerge and restore the editing history, but for now let it suffice to say that User:Fleurs was the sole contributor to the article Fleurs while it was known as User:Fleurs. By the way, it is generally accepted that editors leave others' userspace alone in most cases, so I would not have blanked User:Fleurs as you did. In fact, I would have opened a discussion with Fleurs first to find out if she intended to sandbox there or had some other reason for not deploying to a mainspace page. There are many. Sorry for the trouble - you're quite right, discussion would've been the proper way to proceed. I'll avoid doing anything drastic like this again.

Just a question on moves though, when moving a section of an article to a new article is this an acceptable way of crediting editors or is there a better/preferred way? --Therobotdude 11:13, 4 January 2014 (PST)
