Talk:Event blockades
Something need to happen here now - a disambiguation? --Polny 13:01, 17 October 2006 (PDT)
- Well, since I highly doubt we're going to create a blockade history for every single event blockade thrown up willy nilly by island holding flags, (I think Midnight has had something like 12 since the release came out), probably a disambig page would work. But what exactly should it point to? Or maybe two separate articles. One called Event blockades for actual events that are planned ahead and advertised and then a page called Governor initiated blockades to describe the mechanic of a governor creating the blockade and direct to the release notes. Hmmm...just some suggestions. --Muffynz 23:51, 22 October 2006 (PDT)
- Yea, Viridian had about 5 just today, we can't create a history of every governer initiated one, it'd be unfeasable, and there are also so many participants that the page would be huge, because of the number of contenders and the number of events Caruut 13:35, 24th October (PDT)
- I'm currently thinking of making this page into a new page called "Blockade events" (i.e. events that use blockades) and making this page afresh with all the new info about event blockades. Any thoughts? --Whitemonkey 12:22, 30 October 2006 (PST)
- I would leave it with same title and refresh it explaning how governors can set up event blockades and the options these can have, etc., etc. --Cecidrake 14:31, 30 October 2006 (PST)
- Do we still need the calendar at the top of this page? Is it updated regularly? I think the explanation of how event blockades work is far down in page making hard to catch. I really scroll down just because i saw a change in recent changes. I think that in view of the recent changes the Oceans and dates should be at the end of the page or maybe in a different one. --Cecidrake 10:28, 2 November 2006 (PST)
- IMO, the calendar belongs on a page called something like Current event blockades (like the Current blockades page), and this article needs to be move to Event blockade, per YPPedia:Style guide. Personally, though, I think the calendar is completely unmaintainable, given the short notice available for event blockades. Large-scale event blockades can still be listed on the current events page. --AtteSmythe 14:08, 2 November 2006 (PST)
- When I created the article, its original intention was to provide a page for booking the specific event islands on each ocean, not for the history of the event blockades. --Nicksterv (t/c) 14:43, 2 November 2006 (PST)
- I'm not sure how much we'll be needing/using the old event blockades now that the blockade events are out. I think it makes sense to turn this into a history of the event blockade islands (and question what's to become of them next?) and move the new event blockade things to a page called "blockade events" since that's what they're actually called in-game. --Artemis 18:44, 5 November 2006 (PST)
- Blockade event sounds good to me. --Guppymomma 19:54, 5 November 2006 (PST)

Should we remove this page? It doesn't seem to be used at all... Or maybe we can just list a history of old event blockades which have happened (assuming that's not already listed elsewhere.) --Artemis 17:32, 27 July 2007 (PDT)

Possibly change this page to a redirect?
I updated the information on Blockade_event to include scheduling on Ringer islands, and repeated that information here because the procedure no longer includes listing it on the YPPedia chart that existed here. I do see that there was discussion on using the page to document the history but the turnaround time on event blockades is now very short and pretty impossible to expect the page to be maintained. Not sure that just deleting the page is a good option. Most people will search for Event Blockades because that's what they're commonly called regardless of the more appropriate usage of Blockade events for the YPPedia. Ramble, ramble - hopefully I'm making some sort of sense, somehow. Anyway, leave the info here as a redundancy? Or change to a redirect? - I'd favour changing it to a redirect to "Blockade_event#Event Blockades on Ringer Islands", redundant information has a tendency to get overlooked by updates. --Alfwyn 18:14, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
