Protection ?

This page, and sister pages for other oceans are currently protected from editing (cascading from Main). Was this the intention ?

Yes and no. All pages that are included on the Main page are to be protected from editing by non-admins. Unfortunately that meant things like the events list could only be edited by admins. The problem is it defeats the purpose of things like the events lists that were usually kept up to date (or at least a little more current) by non-admins. Maybe we'll just provide a link to those pages instead unless you have another suggestion that doesn't include removing the cascading protection from the Main page. -- Cedarwings ^(talk) 17:39, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't think there is an easy solution, because the purpose of the cascading protection is to protect everything that influence how the page is displayed.

While it probably could be done the following way, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble:

Make the current Main_Page something like Main_Page_inc with cascading protection. A new Main_Page with normal protection would include (a slightly modified) Main_Page_inc and pass the pagenames that should not be protected as parameters, Main_Page_inc would include those pages via parameter names.

Nevertheless the Main Page may not really need a cascading protection and a normal protection would suffice. Was there a case of vandalism by changing content the Main Page included, or was the cascading protection put up just in case ?

On a similar vein, Current Real-life gatherings should be updated, the content replaced by a pointer to the North Carolina Meetup 2009.

How do we get events listed on these pages

I always wondered why there were never any events listed here, when there are lots of events happening on the forums... lol - Can someone please add our event? Could Someone Please Add My Event =)

Hi! I was wondering if someone could add my current Viridian event to this page. It is called ~Amazin' Adrielle's Art Ask! [Event!]~, and the event thread is here: http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=137392. The event asks entrants to create a piece of artwork for my crew. Enter for a chance to win doubloons and trinkets! The event will be running until the 5th of September. I really hope someone can add this event.
