Maelstrom

A light wind blew on that fateful Saturday night at the time that darkness had come

Of the shore of Italy a few leagues east a strong wind began to drum

The crew was strong and skilled but comprised of only ten

And when they saw the storm approaching their hearts began to bend

Turn about they tried but all their efforts seemed to fail

For nothing could save the crew now when the winds went full scale

Lightning crashed in circles around them and to the side their boat did sway

For never again would they see home after that sorry day

But no ordinary storm was this for in a circular pattern they would go

For the Storm had a few very powerful tricks to show

The wood beneath their ship did split and the masts began to crack

And when they reached the center there was no turning back

Amidst the heavy rain and their ship began to dive

And the ship ripped completely apart like a weak bee's hive

The crewmates grabbed all they could to save them but their efforts were for naught

For nothing could ever escaped when the Maelstrom caught.
