Docksidable items
Shop pages do not have a section for "Docksidable items". Should they? --Behindcurtai 22:54, 28 February 2006 (PST)
- That sounds like a useful section. Feel free to add it to the shoppe pages. Just give a holler if you need formatting help. --Guppymomma 07:54, 1 March 2006 (PST)
- Ok then, ** holler **. Wiki formatting still confuses me, and I don't have the slighest idea how to make a template.--Behindcurtai 15:09, 1 March 2006 (PST)
- The first thing to know about wiki formatting is that the toolbar near the top of the "Editing" pages is very helpful. It'll format text as bold (3 single-quotes on each end), italics (2 single-quotes on each end), a wiki link (2 square brackets on each end), etc. Second, don't try to do complex formatting; it's difficult to get right and hard to maintain. Simple is always preferred.
- Templates are way of including text in another page. We have some pretty elaborate ones, but a nice simple one is Template:Proposed_deletion_because. See how it uses {{{1}}} to take a parameter? The parameters can also be named like {{{reason}}}. There are also a few pre-defined values like NAMESPACE and PAGENAME. --Barrister 16:33, 1 March 2006 (PST)
- I don't think a template is what you're looking for. Just a bulleted list would work for dockside sold items for each shoppe type on their respective pages. --Guppymomma 19:56, 1 March 2006 (PST)
- Ok, I tried to do it for IM's, but it isn't quite right. What am I doing wrong?
- Take a look at the changes I made. To link to a category instead of placing that article in the category, precede the category link with a colon. Mediawiki isn't too too fussy about initial capitalizations, but it is aobut internal ones. This means that you can use a lowercase letter for the first letter and the link will go to the right article. However, if you capitalize a letter internally that isn't actually capitalized, it will just create a blind link. Finally, to create plurals and other forms of a link word where you just add letters to the end, just follow the link with those letters with no space in between.--Fiddler 20:34, 1 March 2006 (PST)
Title: "Docksideable", or "Consumables"?
Given that we have a section "Produces" for shops, should the dockside inputs be called "Consumes", or something else? (Inputs, consumes, purchases, etc.) --Behindcurtai 14:30, 2 March 2006 (PST)
- Produces is easy to understand for everyone, the section you're adding isn't a general knowledge type stuff that a nonshopkeeping pirate would understand. Perhaps just keeping with your Docksideable idea and adding a line of text that gives a short explanation of what it means would be a good option. --Guppymomma 14:57, 2 March 2006 (PST)
