Please see Nobooty to recieve your golden ticket.

These are rules for Booty or No Booty that everyone should follow to make the event enjoyable to everyone.

Game summary

In Booty or No Booty, the contestant will eventually discover what prize he/she will win. The game mechanics can be summarized as follows.

  • Before the game, golden tickets can be won in various events and tournaments.
  • As the game begins, participants may trade in golden tickets for a chance to get into the hot seat, that is, to become the contestant.
  • There are 22 mystery boxes with different prizes ranging from a tan bandana to a familiar. The contestant will pick one box, which he/she will win in the end (with an exception when the switcheroo is taken, see below).
  • Throughout the game, the contestant will open the other boxes to see what prizes he/she did not win.
  • There will be rounds of bidding, where members of the audience may bid amounts of PoE to get into the hot seat. The contestant will have to decide whether to take the PoE and leave (Booty) (and probably miss a great prize), or to continue on, (No Booty) (and maybe win something poor).

How to participate

Anyone may participate as part of the audience, provided he/she is well-behaved. A golden ticket would provide a chance to get in the hot seat at first, and PoE on hand may be bid to get in later, but neither is required for you to watch and have fun.

To join the event, you will need to go to Ajax's estate or villa at the following locations, depending on your ocean.

The date and time of the upcoming event will be announced in this forum thread, and an Ocean Master will make a broadcast one hour before the game starts.

Behaviour

To help keep the game fun for everyone, be polite, don't annoy other people, and don't try to disrupt the game. Contributing constructively to the game atmosphere is encouraged, but do use common sense and don't talk when it is not the time.

Nobooty is the host of the event, and it is advisable to follow his instructions tightly during the game.

While in the BoNB house, please use /house chat, and refrain from /speaking and especially /shouting unless you are the contestant or answering a question for Nobooty.

Swearing, spamming, shouting, jobbing for a blockade, dockpressing, harassing people, walking onto the stage, attempting to hearty others, fake bidding, pestering Nobooty in /tells, disrupting the flow of the game, being grossly disrespectful, or otherwise acting like an idiot, will get you planked from the house and banned from other Booty or No Booty episodes forever.

Game procedure

The game will begin at the scheduled time, one hour after the ocean-wide broadcast has been made. A few minutes before start, a golden ticket may be given out, but Nobooty won't be telling how or when, so please don't ask!

Golden ticket lottery

The game begins with people handing in golden tickets for a chance to get into the hot seat. If you have a golden ticket to hand in, you may send a trade request to Nobooty when he says so, and wait for him to respond. Note that you will not likely get the ticket back if you loose, and that you cannot use tickets with other people's names. After all tickets are handed in, those who submitted tickets will be invited to the other side of the garden, will get to pick a box for the raffle (one box per ticket), and may open it when Nobooty says so.

  • The winner of the hot seat will find a greeting card telling him/her to shout "BOOTY"; wait until Nobooty asks and shout out "BOOTY!"
  • One person will find a greeting card saying he/she will receive a refund; wait until Nobooty asks, and shout "NO BOOTY!", then wait for him to trade request a golden ticket in exchange for the card.
  • If you find a bandana or bid ticket, sadly, you've wasted your golden ticket.
  • If you find something else, you haven't won, but you received a consolation prize.

The winner will be invited onto the stage, and everyone else is now part of the audience.

The Main game

The main set of presents on the stage contain the twenty-two prizes, and are labelled with the numbers 1 to 22. Nobody knows what's in each box, but they collectively contain:

Tan bandana
5 PoE
Fish skeleton
100 PoE
Short hemp stack
400 PoE
Rum barrel furniture
Stiletto
2,500 PoE
Fancy wardrobe
7,500 PoE
Skull furniture
Flower trinket
Weapon
70,000 PoE
Throne
Full outfit
200,000 PoE
Pig or Turtle
Rare artifact
500,000 PoE
Familiar

The prizes, as they are shown on the stage to keep track of the remaining (not-yet-opened) ones

As the game starts, the contestant gets to pick a box, which is what he/she will win (with an exception by way of the switcheroo), but that box will be the last to be opened. Therefore, the prize to be won remains unknown until the end of the game.

The contestant will then continue to open the twenty-one remaining boxes, to see what he/she didn't win. The contestant is hoping, of course, to eliminate the poorer "blue" prizes, which makes it more likely that the box he/she picked contains a good "red" prize.

The remaining prizes are kept track of by a scoreboard of presents with labels of the available prizes (shown on the right). As the prizes are eliminated, the present is removed from the stage.

The elimination is done in six rounds, the first round eliminating five boxes, and the following rounds eliminating three boxes each, leaving 17, 14, 11, 8, 5, and 2 boxes after each round (including the one the contestant had chosen in the first place).

Bidding

At the end of each round, the audience may bid for the chosen box and a place in the hot seat.

Bidding is done in two waves. The first wave is so that everyone can gauge how much others are willing to pay. Nobooty will announce the first wave's high bid, and bidding will continue to the second wave, which is the actual bidding, so that the highest bid may be offered to the contestant.

When Nobooty says so, send him a [/tell|tell]] saying how much you are willing to pay for the box and the hot seat. Only bids in PoE are accepted.

In the second wave, Nobooty will announce a bidding threshold. Bids higher than the threshold are to be sent in /pay to Nobooty. Unsuccessful /paid bids will be refunded; bids lower than the threshold should still be sent in /tell.

Do not make fake bids (bids that you will not be able or willing to pay) in the second wave of bidding. Doing so will get you planked from the house.

As the bidding ends, the highest bid of the second wave is offered to the contestant to choose, either:

  • Booty, to accept the PoE offered and leave the game (the box passes on to the successful bidder), or
  • No Booty, to continue playing as normal.

Switcheroo

After the sixth round of bidding, there will be only two boxes left, one on the stage and the other one being the box chosen at the start of the game. The contestant will now get to pick one of two "switcheroo" boxes. One allows the player to swap the chosen box with the other remaining one if he/she wishes; the other box has no effect.

After the switcheroo, the final box is opened, the contestant wins the prize, and the game ends.

surPRIZES

Those in the audience who don't have PoE to bid aren't out of luck. Throughout the game, Nobooty may announce a few minutes of "intermissions". They will happen when he decides, so do not request a surPRIZE, otherwise Nobooty will purposefully push the time back. He will declare a task for the audience to complete, and the winner gets to pick one of the surPRIZE boxes and win the contents, which may range from trinkets to clothes to weapons or even something very rare.
