Talk:Configure voyage

From YPPedia

Trade Voyage setting

It states that Spawns are hinted at being reduced in the release notes.

Ceph confirmed this is the case in this thread :

http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=125808&offset=0

But most specifically in this post imo:

Evading

Someone should describe the evading voyage type. -- Wyriel

Change settings

It says "These types of voyages can only be changed either in port or while stopped at a league point.", but in my experience you can only change it in port. Are there situations where you can change the settings at a league point? -- Vorky 20:56, 28 March 2007 (PDT)

Anyone? -- Vorky 03:42, 2 April 2007 (PDT)
Only exception is to change at an island league point so far as I've been able to discover -- Vorky 20:02, 24 May 2007 (PDT)
I want to point out, you can change SOME of the settings at a regular league point as well. I have changed from pilly to trade mid-voyage, due to a jobber hopping on and working on one of my solo runs. However, you can't change to Swabbie or some others at the league point. Perhaps more research is needed. --Kingofzeal 04:22, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
At non-island LPs, it will only let me switch to "Evade", and then I'm stuck with "Evade" until port. Or at least until an island LP (just now confirmed it only has to be an island LP, not necessarily in port, in order to freely change voyage config). -Vortexae 19:36, 29 January 2013 (PST)

Updated screen shots needed

With the Release_2007-05-24

  • Hiring Jobbers & Auto-targetting buttons now on a single line in the vessel tab

This will require the auto targeting image updated.

The small icons for configure voyage are different now as well. I'll try and get some shots and upload a new one including the swabbie transport and flotilla as well as the new icons for the older configurations. --Muffynz 21:25, 14 June 2007 (PDT)
Thanks Sasha, looks good. --Muffynz 21:39, 14 June 2007 (PDT)
Yeah, we actually need a new example screen shot as well because the one has the old trading icon in it right now and it's no longer current. Since I am on a pillage right now, I'll try and get a current shot. --Muffynz 21:49, 14 June 2007 (PDT)
Never mind, forgot to update the cache. Sigh, nice job. --Muffynz 21:51, 14 June 2007 (PDT)

Sea Monster Voyage type

Would it be wise to put in there that you can't job onto a boat that's configured like that, unless you have subbed or a bravery Badge? And when you leave atlantis, it's automatically reconfigured to chart you back home on the "Average Brigs and Barbs" pillage setting? Klostro 15:06, 24 September 2007 (PDT)

I would also like to add that it is not just Atlantis with the new release. Should it be added that Cursed Isle charts/voyages also fit under this category? Horten 04:20, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Swabbie Transport (Autofloat)

The section states: "However, if the ship's course takes it by an island, you can port your ship during the brief stop at the island's league point. PoE charged for the remaining unsailed leagues will not be refunded." I argue this, as I've on numerous occations ported boats, and the remaining balance has been refunded. As well, it should be stated that within the first league, you can turn about, and report (which will still give you your poe back) and correct any mistakes you may have made in charting, I tend to do that often. Can I get someone else to verify this before a change is made? Klostro 10:05, 20 May 2008 (PDT)

Greeter Pillage

It was my understanding that during a greeter pillage, greeters are not allowed to actively recruit greenies into their crew. If they were asked, then they were allowed to invite them to be full members. The article doesn't specify this. Is this right? If so, can it be added to the Greeter Pillage Section?

Is Memorization Possible with Swabbie Transport?

I sailed the same route about 4 times over and not one league point is memorized. Can anyone confirm that you can't mem while the ship is set to swabbie transport? R3volv360 14:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

You cannot memorise in swabbie transport. (You used to be able to, but no longer. Same with greeter pillage.) --Belthazar451 21:46, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

D-Nav Effect on Greeter Pillage

Does duty navigation performance have any appreciable effect on Greeter Pillage encounters? Since Greeter Pillage doesn't allow you to specify an opponent type, I wouldn't expect d-nav to increase your chances of encountering brigs or barbs specifically; but might it perhaps increase frequency of spawn at greeter-friendly difficulties? -Vortexae 19:31, 29 January 2013 (PST)

Swabbie -- Repairs are Inexpensive? or truly Free?

(Ref.: this sub-section)

If I set swabbie transport from "A" to "B", but port back at "A" (instead of "B"), as per the above sub-section, do I get a refund of my swabbie transport fee? If not, then this repair was merely inexpensive (instead of being truly free), and I intend to update that section header accordingly. I just wanted to know whether or not we get this refund (i.e. whether or not this section's header does need to be corrected).

Can any one confirm this, please? Thanks in advance. -- Franklincain (t/c) 09:16, 17 June 2014 (PDT)

I just experimented. It does indeed refund the PoE. I intended to set up a battle between two of my alts, but one got wiped out by Diablo instead. :P After being thoroughly beaten, I ported, transferred the rum off, and set as swabbie. It worked, and it did indeed refund the PoE when I ported at the original league point. Jlh0605 10:17, 17 June 2014 (PDT)
Should we even be covering this kind of thing in this article? This is more or less "emergent game play". If we covered all the instances of emergent game play in non-strategy, non-opinion articles, they would be a lot bigger, and a lot less fact-based. I think we should stick to the bare facts about SST and how it is intended to be used. If not, then we should add a section on how people always use this to win puzzle competitions. Chupchup 10:45, 17 June 2014 (PDT)
I'll say. Ship repair is free anyway... --Belthazar451 13:50, 17 June 2014 (PDT)
In light of this, I propose to delete the sub-section entirely. Chupchup 16:05, 17 June 2014 (PDT)

Sea monster mode reduced spawn

Re this edit: is there any supporting evidence for sea monster mode + dnav = reduced enemy spawn enroute to the monster lair? (trade/evade/flotilla behaviours are all hinted/mentioned in release notes, and i'd assume same goes for SMH) --Therobotdude 02:39, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
