Furniture Names
Ahoy! Actually, some of the furniture names are not fully capitalised in the game. Before recently, they were all fully capped. We copy in-game names exactly, and we think we've double checked - after some previous confusion - that we have them all correct right now. --Sagacious (talk) 17:03, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ah... that would be something that I did not notice. Not exactly being much of a furniture purchaser myself, I would not have known that. Thank you for the information! Jlh0605 04:40, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Image Names
The easiest way to not screw up the building image names is to upload the image after you have added the screenshot=yes to the {{Infobox building}} (Usage) template. That way there won't be so that an admin will have to delete later. -- Cedarwings (talk) 14:01, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- I realized that AFTER I made all those duplicates. Sorry you had to clean them up. :( It shouldn't happen again. Jlh0605 14:02, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Nurple/Indigo
Yes, Indigo has been confirmed as the new colour on the other oceans, as there is the little box on the notice board that says so. But, you cannot get clothes coloured indigo from tailors, you also can't get trinkets coloured indigo, but probably you will in the coming weeks. So the full release isn't quite out yet, but it will be soon =-) --Addison 14:51, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thank ye for the update! I was just wondering because the page still says the color has not been decided yet. I was pretty sure it was, but I didn't want to edit without confirmation. Thanks! Jlh0605 15:50, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
Poison trinket is properly linked now
You can see I've done the proper link to Poison (trinket) on the Trinket page. The {{Trinket item}} (Usage) template allows this, with the disambig= option. Chupchup 01:13, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- It was the disambig= option I wasn't aware of. Thank you for fixing it. Jlh0605 22:06, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Viking raid
Sorry, I overwrote your page. I copied IO page on my own just after adding links to Vikings, but removed a bit more things so it lasted longer than your edit. I don't know why yppedia didn't alert about concurrent edits? Zyzyzyryxy 21:12, 20 January 2011 (UTC) Also notice that it is defense, not attack, and that expedition may be sf or rumble - these things were mentioned in my version and you erased it now - Im not going to correct it now, in case you are still editing the page. Zyzyzyryxy 21:18, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- You didn't get an edit conflict because you created different pages. Zyz created Viking raid, while Jlh created Viking Raid - aside from the first character, all links are case-sensitve. Viking raid is the page we'll wind up keeping, due to standard policy, so make all of your edits there. --Belthazar451 21:57, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, it all makes sense now. I have made the changes that I wanted to make, I'm done for now. Feel free to edit away. I'll just continue to update. And zyzyzyryxy, no hard feelings. :) Jlh0605 22:04, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Jamesh's trinkets page
Ahoy!
Just wanted to let you know that your consolidated trinkets page has exceeded the maximum size for inclusion allowed by the MediaWiki software. Since you already list your trinkets in sub-pages, perhaps the best way to fix your trinkets page is to change it to be just a table of contents for the trinket sub-pages you already have.
Hope this helps! -- Franklincain (t/c)
- Sorry for the delay - haven't been on much recently. Fixed now, because it only links to the sub-pages. Jlh0605 11:04, 3 July 2013 (PDT)
Links never go inside section headings
YPPedia policy follows that of Wikipedia in that links never go inside section headings. I understand that you're providing a convenient way to navigate through each of the trinket subpages of the Jamesh pirate article. Perhaps there could be a way to achieve a similar effect without having links in the section headings - I'll see whether I can figure something out which works for the much longer of the trinket subpages. -- Faulkston 19:31, 5 November 2014 (PST)
- I assume you're talking about pages like this one. To be honest, I don't understand why they are showing as being part of a section heading, since I don't use the === headers. Perhaps it's because I'm using the HTML header? If so, that can be fixed. Jlh0605 16:54, 6 November 2014 (PST)
- Oh, I misunderstood. You are referring to the links to the pallete page? If so, that is also easily fixable. Jlh0605 16:55, 6 November 2014 (PST)
- Actually both: the HTML header markup text and the links to the palette pages. If you're only using the HTML header markup text to make the link bold, maybe using the usual '''text''' syntax would work. -- Faulkston 22:06, 6 November 2014 (PST)
- I tried the '''text''' syntax earlier, and the problem is that the text is too small. However, I found a workaround using the HTML <big> tag that seems to work. My program has been modified, and any subsequent pages added to the program will have no links in the section headers (and no HTML header tags). Jlh0605 13:48, 7 November 2014 (PST)
- Thanks for making the changes to your program and the trinket subpages. I believe some other YPPedia editors have successfully used <font size=...></font> in a similar way to <big>...</big>. -- Faulkston 20:29, 7 November 2014 (PST)

- The trinket subpages do look better without a giant table of contents. :-D -- 20:54, 7 November 2014 (PST)
- just a thought : You can use the _NOTOC_ magic word to hide this table of contents - after which there's no major difference between links in headings and links with large heading-like font. Why not do this instead? --Therobotdude 14:34, 8 November 2014 (PST)
- That may be a workaround that avoids generating the table of contents but it would be better not to use code the wiki treats as a section header when that's not the semantics desired. -- Faulkston 20:27, 8 November 2014 (PST)

- And then you can incorporate the changes into your program which is turning your spreadsheets into wiki code (that's nifty!). -- Faulkston 19:55, 5 November 2014 (PST)
- Thanks! I enjoy challenges, and this was a fun one to overcome. Jlh0605 16:54, 6 November 2014 (PST)
Do you have any renamed ships?
Renamed ships can certainly be listed in a pirate article. However lists of standard named vessels is against YPPedia policy. -- Faulkston 21:04, 11 November 2014 (PST)
- Would it be more appropriate if I simply listed the ship type as "collected" or not, without listing vessel names? I can certainly do that. Jlh0605 08:55, 12 November 2014 (PST)
- It would. I believe one of the reasons why the rule against listing standard ship names was created was that such lists had little additional semantics than "I own this ship". Those pirates collecting particular adjectives or nouns appearing in ship names could write a sentence or so about that in an article, instead of making a plain list of their collection. -- Faulkston 21:29, 12 November 2014 (PST)
Availability Templates
It would've been better to link to the regular-namespace promotion articles rather than their Official: namespace counterparts. Just sayin'. Chupchup 19:03, 19 January 2015 (PST)
- Actually, I've been wondering about that. Why do you think it'd be better to link to the regular namespace ones? As far as I'm aware, it's just the same exact page transcluded. Jlh0605 (t/c) 12:05, 20 January 2015 (PST)
- Firstly, because the regular ones are editable by mere mortals. Secondly, and somewhat related, is that they are in the correct categories. Chupchup 17:48, 20 January 2015 (PST)
Maps and charts
Please refer to the main article, chart, to understand the difference between maps and charts. In summary, charts are only island-to-island, whether interarch or intrarch; while maps correspond to SMHs, expeditions, VRs, etc. This distinction is one that originated with in-game terminology. Chupchup 22:24, 2 May 2015 (PDT)
- So THAT's what the difference is.... My apologies for misuses, and I will endeavor to use both correctly in the future. Jlh0605 (t/c) 14:45, 5 May 2015 (PDT)
Signature
Ahoy! Just to point out one of your signature links doesn't look like it's pointing to the right place. The offending bit should read [[User talk:Jlh0605|t]] rather than the current [[User Jlh0605|t]]. I only realised when I looked at the list of wanted pages and thought whoah what is Jlh doing there!
Maybe it's intentional, but in the spirit of Captain Obvious I thought I'd better let you know anyway :P. --Therobotdude 10:27, 20 August 2015 (PDT)
- Well, I don't know how I missed something that obvious. *facepalms* Thanks for the catch. Jlh0605 (t/c) 10:31, 20 August 2015 (PDT)
Thanks for cropping ship scene images!
Nice work and thanks for helping to improve the YPPedia. -- Faulkston 21:18, 4 November 2015 (PST)
- Thanks! And thanks for following up and deleting all the old ones for me. Jlh0605 (t/c) 00:16, 5 November 2015 (PST)
Once again thanks for all your great work. -- Faulkston 20:47, 8 March 2016 (PST)
