For information on the templates standardly used on the YPPedia, take a look at the style guide. Most of the more complex templates should have directions for use on their talk pages.
Currently there is no way to do if/then type statements in templates directly. They can be done indirectly through nested templates (see Template:Infobox_flag as an example). Templates also cannot handle blank variables unless there is nesting.
