YPPedia talk:Featured article

From YPPedia

Hmmm...I'm all for the indexing, but this seems to be something for the main namespace, I'd think, rather than Meta. To borrow a phrase from the local vernacular, no or no? --AtteSmythe 09:46, 12 July 2006 (PDT)

As I would see it, the template itself should actually be in the YPPedia namespace, rather than the template namespace. --Emufarmers 22:19, 12 July 2006 (PDT)
We can move it over if you can figure out how to include a main namespace article in another main namespace article. --Guppymomma 06:31, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
Actually, with a bit of re-jiggering to the front page we may be able to do away with this template altogether. {{:Portrait}} will include the entirety of the Portrait article as though it were a regular template.--Fiddler 06:42, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
Looks good to me. We still need Featured article to have a shorter summary & stuff instead of plopping complete articles. Emu, either another admin can give you a hand with this or I can do it later after work. You could actually do the same for the Current blockades and Current events ones for now as those would be appropriate for the main namespace. --Guppymomma 06:48, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
Fiddler's right about that: The example I was going to cite for how we use YPPedia-namespace things as templates was with RfA, but...Well, are we agreed on moving this to the YPPedia namespace?
I'm not sure what you mean with the current blockades and current events: Aren't they already in the main namespace? (I won't move them myself, regardless: I could move them, but I'd be unable to change the includes on the main page and the links on the navigation bar myself.) --Emufarmers 21:07, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
I consider the Featured Article to be either content or meta—that is, : or YPPedia:)—but current events and current blockades seem very much content (: namespace) to me. I certainly don't have any strong feelings one way or the other, though. The location is easy enough to divine by examining the main page source. --AtteSmythe 21:34, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
I'm not sure if Guppy was saying that those two should be in the YPPedia namespace (if she said that, then I would have to disagree as well): She actually said that they "would be appropriate for the main namespace." However, they're already in the main namespace, so I think she goofed her wording. :) --Emufarmers 21:38, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
I'm talking about the templates that aren't templates that are included in current events & blockades (and the main page as well). I did those as templates since I didn't know the other including trick. Featured article would be fine either way. The archive is in the main namespace. We could edit the archive to link to wherever the featured article article goes. Get consensus and create it in the new spot and I'll take care of the rest. --Guppymomma 21:42, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
Ah, my bad. I'll move those templates to the main namespace, then, while people mull over the featured article placement. --Emufarmers 22:35, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
Done with that bit; hopefully I did it properly. (I left some of the things in the template namespace, since they're used in places outside of that page as templates.) --Emufarmers 22:49, 13 July 2006 (PDT)
I've switched the Main Page instances. Unless there are other spots you can either redirect or mark for deletion. --Guppymomma 07:03, 14 July 2006 (PDT)
Seems everyone's okay with the featured article being either place. I'd like to see it in the same namespace as the archive, though, so if we keep the archive in the main perhaps we should move the featured article there too.
And while we're here, I've expanded the portrait page somewhat, but think we still need to jigger the formatting some more; continue at Talk:Portrait, perhaps? (We're going for this one, right?) Gail 07:40, 14 July 2006 (PDT)
