Werewolf expeditions are a two-part expedition for small ships (cutters or smaller). These expeditions involve sea battling with werewolf ships, and a visit to Woodhallow Isle, often referred to as the werewolf den. At Woodhallow Isle, groups of pirates fight through up to six waves of the werewolf pack, rumbling, foraging and navigating to push as deep into the wood as they dare.
Finding and defeating werewolf ships

To complete a werewolf expedition, players will first need to encounter a werewolf ship at sea. Werewolf ships can be found using a Wolf-skull Wayfinder. Werewolf ship expeditions can also be won when defeating brigands and barbarians while pillaging during a full moon.
Werewolf ships will always be the same vessel type as the boat the player is on.
Wolf-skull Wayfinder

A Wolf-skull Wayfinder is a compass that is placed in the "Charts" section of a pirate's inventory.
Wolf-skull wayfinders can be won from series VIII Black Boxes, which are available for a price of 10,000 PoE each from the Black Market. A Wolf-skull Wayfinder is also won by a random player when a player team beats a werewolf fray. This replaces the sea monster map that is rewarded normally from monster frays.
Wolf-skull Wayfinders degrade in three days from the time that they are obtained.
When placed on the navigation table of a small ship (a cutter or smaller), the Wolf-skull Wayfinder will trigger an expedition to the werewolf ship. Engaging the werewolf ship in battle and winning the rumble fight will reveal the location of Woodhallow Isle. If the battle is won or lost, the Wayfinder will disappear; if the player ship disengages, the Wayfinder will be lost as well.
Winning a werewolf expedition while pillaging
Near a full moon, werewolf ships will also turn up while pillaging. Beat three in a row, and the last will reveal Woodhallow Isle's location.

A Woodhallow Isle duty report
Once the location of Woodhallow Isle has been revealed, ye can sail to the specified league point to plunder the werewolves den. When a ship reaches Woodhallow Isle, the officers in charge of the ship can choose to enter the expedition. All pirates on board are automatically transferred ashore.
Once ashore, the players are greeted with the following message:
- Hark the dread howlin'! 'Tis Woodhallow Isle, realm o' the wolf-folk!
There are six night cycles. Each cycle opens with a pack of wolf-kin, some already turned werewolf by the moon. Werewolves have been enhanced by the power of the moon and will have red names, and pose a tougher challenge. Win the rumble, then forage or navigate until the next pack arrives. The location of the foraging and navigating stations change with each cycle as you make your way further into the den. The more of ye still standing after a fray, the more time ye will get to forage and navigate. After winning a fight the following message is displayed:
- Explore further into the forest or retreat! Now's the time to decide.
Once all 6 cycles are completed, the following message is displayed and players can return to their ship:
- The lair be plundered! The night be yers!
- But o' the Grizzled Baron remains untamed. Soon the lord o' Woodhallow shall return and ye shall face him in battle.
- Ye be free to roam the isle, but there be no more treasure to haul. Head back to the ship whenever ye be ready: ye keep every chest.
Rumble
During werewolf expeditions, rumble contains special furballs. These replace orange rumble balls, and cannot be charged like normal rumble balls can. Instead, the fifth furball placed in a matching group will pop when it joins the group.
Foraging
- Main article: Foraging

The purpose of foraging is to bring in the treasure (PoE and items, including special exclusive werewolf loot). Clear four pieces inside the new moon piece and it fires, clearing out the rows beside it and the columns below in a T formation. Wolf Boxes, Lunar Lockers and Dire Chests grow richer the deeper ye go, and the lair (reached on the sixth night cycle) is the richest of all.

- Main article: Navigation

Navigation fights the moon: every werewolf ye chart away is one fewer in the next pack. It plays at the middle star level whatever yer rating, with a fourth ring, and wild targets made by clearing in chains. The following messages are displayed tracking progress of player efforts and the person's name who completed the last constellation, until no werewolves remain for the upcoming round:
- The crew's charting has turned back half the werewolves! 3 still to come in the next wave.
- Affectionate's charting has turned back more o' the werewolves! Only 2 left in the next wave.
- Pafsie's charting has turned back more o' the werewolves! Only 1 left in the next wave.
- Pandayay's charting has turned back the last werewolf! The next wave be all wolf-kin.
Getting out
Win the rumble fight on all six night cycles, and ye will keep every chest - with some time to roam before the ship sails.
If things are looking grim and it is feared ye may lose the next fight, an officer can order a retreat. The crew falls back before the next pack, keeping all earlier treasure and three quarters of the current cycle's.
If ye lose a rumble, ye keep three quarters of the earlier treasure and a quarter of the current cycle's, and are returned to yer ship.
