Welcome to the Sinister Woods

From the Release Notes:

The Wolf-folk o' Woodhallow

Hark the dread howlin'! A werewolf pack has made its den on Woodhallow Isle, a new crew expedition. Fight through six waves of the pack, plundering and charting between them, and push as deep into the wood as ye dare.

Finding the isle

  • Look for a Wolf-skull Wayfinder in the Black box which was given a slight update to include the Wayfinder and summoning charms to summon the werewolf frays. The Wolf-skull Wayfinder leads ye to a werewolf ship; beat her crew in the rumble and she takes ye to the isle.
  • Near a full moon, werewolf ships also turn up while pillaging. Beat three in a row and the last leads ye to the isle.
  • Cutters and smaller only. The pack won't show itself to anything bigger.

The night

  • Six cycles: Each cycle opens with a pack of wolf-kin, some already turned werewolf by the moon. Werewolves have been enhanced by the power of the moon and will pose a tougher challenge. Win the rumble, then forage or navigate until the next pack arrives. The more of ye still standing after a fray, the more time ye get.
  • Foraging: Brings in the treasure. Clear four pieces inside the new moon piece and it fires, clearing out the rows beside it and the columns below.
  • Navigation: Fights the moon: every werewolf ye chart away is one fewer in the next pack. It plays at the middle star level whatever yer rating, with a fourth ring, and wild targets made by clearing in chains.
  • The chests: Wolf Boxes, Lunar Lockers and Dire Chests, grow richer the deeper ye go, and the lair is richest of all.

Getting out

  • Win the lair and ye keep every chest, with time to roam before the ship sails.
  • An officer can order a Retreat: the crew falls back before the next pack, keeping all earlier treasure and three quarters of the current cycle's.
  • Lose a rumble and ye keep three quarters of the earlier treasure and a quarter of the current cycle's.

More WW Items

  • Werewolf ships can yield two new pieces of furniture, the Moonlit Locker and the Pack Chest, both of which work as chests.
  • Trophies for waves survived, chests brought out, and frenetic foraging and charting.
  • The pack's lord, the Grizzled Baron, is away from Woodhallow. How mysterious...

Other Changes

  • Vampire ships now work the same way, fought by swordfight: a Vampire reliquary leads to a single ship, and near a full moon a vampire ship met while pillaging takes three battles.
  • Purser Pete now has some loot available in the Trading Post. These items need to be added by hand, so they wont appear right after the release. We'll add them as soon as we can, but given the scope of our changes, this could take some time.
  • Names of speakers in chat are clickable, opening a context menu to send tells/invites etc.
  • Names in the ahoy panel are links more often, these links can be right-clicked to access context menu.
  • Roister embiggening improvements.
  • Small chest (huntsman) and Decennium chest now provide access to yer coffers.
  • Wolf Box now acts as a doubloon exchange.
  • Werewolf Expedition trinkets now count as "Collector trinkets".

Bug fixes:

  • Chroma not always getting awarded correctly.
  • Gave Barnabas' boarded version a purple name.
  • Some furniture naming inconsistencies.
  • Roister backdrops fixed at 100% scale.
  • Water recolours on full-zoom sea battle tiles.
  • Logging back in during an expedition ashore returns ye to the expedition, and a pirate disconnected as one ends is brought back to the ship.
  • The Vessel tab shows duty icons for pirates working on the isle or in a vampire lair.

Auction House Changes

  • AH Buying and browsing
    • The category menu’s last choice, “Several categories...”, lets Browse search more than one category at once.
    • Browse’s Deeds category has a Ships menu, to find ships sold with furniture or without.
    • Ship offers and sales show a picture of the ship under sail rather than her deed.
    • While ye visit a ship for sale, the Ahoy tab shows her price and a “Buy her” button, so ye can buy her from aboard.
    • Kinds that share a name are told apart, such as Big Cat (spotted), Big Cat (rainbow) and Parrot (musketeer hat).
    • Buy now points out a big price, or one well above what such things usually sell for, before ye pay.
    • A Report button on other pirates’ offers tells staff about one that’s offensive, a scam, or wrong in some other way.
  • AH Price history
    • Price history plots each sale as a dot by date and price, above the list. It can also reach back to the house’s opening (“All time”) instead of only the past year.
    • It can show only items in a given condition, or only named or unnamed pets and familiars, and it can list what’s for sale right now.
    • Price history and suggested prices leave out sales between pirates on one account, and sales at prices far from the usual ones, so trading with yerself can’t move the prices others see.
  • AH History and My Offers
    • History shows each offer with a picture of its item, coloured by how it ended: sold, bought, cancelled or expired. A sale shows what it went for, the house’s fee, what ye received and the item’s condition. A Show menu lists just one kind of ending, or yer offers still open.
    • History totals what ye sold and bought over the past 30 days and since the house opened. My Offers totals what yer sell offers ask and what yer buy offers hold.
    • My Offers fits yer slots on a few lines, with all their expiry dates on one, however many slots ye hold.
  • AH Selling and slots
    • “Extend a slot” on My Offers lengthens yer slot that expires soonest by as long as a new slot lasts, for the price of a slot, even at the slot limit. My Offers also warns when slots expire within 30 days.
    • An offer runs its full 30 days even when its slot expires first. The slot stays until the offer ends, though the offer can’t be renewed. A new offer takes the free slot that expires soonest.
    • Renewing an offer no longer ages its item a day.
    • If staff cancel an offer, its owner is told why, even if they were away at the time.
    • Price boxes are wide enough to show 100,000,000, and a bigger price is cut back with a message saying so.
    • When a ship can’t be listed because of what’s still aboard, the message counts the charts and, past a few kinds, the cargo, rather than naming every one.
  • AH Buy offers
    • When another pirate fills yer buy offer, ye get a receipt in chat and on the Ahoy tab. It waits for ye if ye’re away.
    • On the Buy Offers form, a trinket’s picture takes the colours chosen.
  • AH Fixes and wording
    • Familiars show their pictures to female pirates too, instead of “No Icon”.
    • A sold stack’s picture shows how many were sold.
    • A sealed deed’s colours are named once, in its title, and an unnamed pet or familiar says so once.
    • Names, notes and inscriptions written with stacked accent marks no longer slip past the language filter.
    • The green for new items is brighter, in the house and in item tooltips.
    • The second “Auction House” heading under the title bar is gone, leaving more room for offers.
