Editing the familiar images

Assuming this was the main thing you wanted to know about from your message in-game. Editing of the image grids is done manually, generally people use photoshop or similar programs. The way I personally did it was:

(General preparation: Having either both an image of an empty inventory box and the familiar, or one of the familiar in the box, as well as having downloaded the current grid) (If the familiar is named you can easily get the image of just the familiar by going to your pirate page on Yoweb, right-clicking the familiar image and copying the image address to get an URL to the image; the empty inventory box can be grabbed from https://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/File:Item_box_unequip.png - or you can screenshot your inventory and crop the box plus the fam out. (for some people this doesn't always work correctly, giving a blurry or wrongly sized image, but could be nice if it works for you)

  1. Set a grid the size of the inventory boxes (Not required, but helps. Snap to grid is a nice function in image editors in cases like these)
  2. Expand image so there's space for another fam
  3. Place empty box and then fam image in (or if you use an image which is the fam in the box already, place that there)
  4. Write text above in small font
  5. Save, export as png, upload

Hope this is what you were looking for and it helps! If not you can always message me (Triplepat) in-game or leave a message here somewhere.

SS quality questions

Adding the twilight (Periwinkle) owl image and color block was what I wanted to do first, yes. Is there a noticeable difference in screenshots from the downloaded vs the steam client? Is there a noticeable difference in screenshots at different resolutions (# x #)? I don't have photoshop, so I'll go see what my options are. Thank you for the reply and all the great information.

As far as I'm aware, there should not be a difference in quality of screenshots between the regular/steam clients or your resolution.
I personally like using gimp to edit the images but there are several more options.
