Bludgeon articles

If you have a problem with the phrasing of any of the bludgeon articles, or feel their information to be inaccurate, by all means propose a rewording or modify the pages directly where necessary; just make your criticism constructive and be sure to verify your information before posting it, rather than basing things on your own personal experience, as that is not the purpose of a wiki. I wrote those articles after bludgeons had only been released for a week, so they were a compilation of information gathered by the top 10-15 rumblers on midnight and cobalt during that period. Encyclopedic content

Hoy there... I just need a word with you about keeping content encyclopedic. Your article on why bludgeons should be rebalanced, for example, is editorial, not encyclopedic, so doesn't belong on the YPPedia; I've moved it to your userspace, and I'll leave a redirect up so if you've made any links you can correct them. You haven't done anything wrong here (the policy is buried on an easily-missed page somewhere, and I'll be bugging the other admins to let me make it more prominent and reassert it), but it still doesn't belong in the main YPPedia. I have to dash off in a second, so this'll be quick and terse. My apologies.

The Hearts event you're running is just a wee bit disruptive to the YPPedia. I'm not going to prevent you from continuing since I know how much it sucks to have the rug yanked out from under you mid-event... good luck, and keep going. But if you're going to be doing anything like this in future, please let the administrators know about it beforehand, because then we can set it up so your account will be omitted from the recent changes list. The RC list is how we moderate new content (new content needs moderation), and if it's got a few dozen entries from one or two users running an event, it makes our job just that much more frustrating to do.

There's a couple of ways, actually. For now, what I'd suggest is you mark all of your score updates as minor edits. (When you make them, tick the "This is a minor edit" box) It still shows up on RC by default, but those can be manually disabled, which we don't like doing because it's very easy for someone to hide a malicious edit behind a Minor tag.

If you do this again, what would work BEST is for us to get the accounts you'll be using to maintain the scores declared "bots" for the duration of the event. Then their edits only show up on RC if you explicitly ask to see them. We generally don't even bother moderating bot edits. This requires the intervention of a more senior administrator than I am, though, and I wouldn't hold my breath that I'd be able to track one of the cool kids down between now and the end of the event. --Ponytailguy 13:53, 2 September 2006 (PDT)

Uploading images

Ahoy! Please show some restraint in the number of images that you upload, and please use better names. Shack3rdGroup.PNG isn't a very good name. It doesn't fit with the general use of prefixes like "Pirates-" or "Furniture-".

To be clear, there's no current policy that prevents uploading of game-related images that you're using for some reasonable purpose. But please try not to treat the wiki as an image-hosting service or we'll have to draft a policy to set limits. Thank you for your cooperation. --Barrister 23:38, 2 January 2007 (PST)
