What Do Helpers Do?
Please read this section before you sign up! Helpers are expected to essentially be Agon's eyes, ears, and hands on their assigned ship for the event:
- Interpretation/enforcement of the rules and discipline if necessary.
- Answering entrant questions.
- Ensuring silence aboard their vessel while anyone is competing. (Participants may gather in the roundhouse or below deck and talk on /speak if they like. They may also leave the vessel, provided they do so between gunners... but they should not be allowed to interrupt or distract the competing gunner in any way.)
- Regularly reporting back to Agon, as well as notifying him of any problems. (Even if you can resolve them yourself, please let him know.)
- Help corral the loosers onto the appropiate war frig for the final round, and help keep them silent during that round. (/plank!)
- Don't forget to smile!
Volunteers with experience as COs, bakeoff assistants or event planners will be greatly preferred. Please note if you have any experience in any of these areas when you speak to me. :)
How Do I Sign Up?
Before you sign up, make sure you read the full rules and are avaliable from 10:00 AM (pirate time) onwards on the day of the event. (September 9th, 2006)
To sign up, you send a PM to Agon on the official YPP forums, or you poke me in-game if you run across me. If you've got a demonic alt in mind, you might want to register him or her now before one of the other jokers gets 'em!
Please note that helping with bakeoffs is not the most thrilling job in the world. You may find yourself planking people, blackspotting people, and all around having a wonderfully abusive-of-power time, but you might also find yourself on a boat with well-behaved, patient, kind-hearted people who congratulate each other and barely need you around. If you're someone who can't handle silence for prolonged periods, this might not be the best volunteering position for you. :(
Demonic Names & Flavor
Yes! Helpers are strongly encouraged to procure demonic alts. If you need help coming up with a demonic names, let Agon know and he'll help sort you out.
Also, the event colours are gray, maroon and black. Clothing in those shades will result in muy thanks, but is by no means mandatory; be creative above all else!
