Talk:Tax value

From YPPedia

Page needed

This page is linked to to discuss the sales tax -- the tax value of goods.

Before we start writing inaccurate information, what do we know that is confirmed about the tax value?

We know that labor is currently fixed, regardless of actual labor rates. We know that amounts paid for commodities in dockside trades do affect things. There seems to be some indication (but not confirmation) that "use" pricing on orders also affects things, but that is known to be gamable -- best example at an IM would be an arbitrary value for Papagoite (only used in Skull Daggers) and a corresponding price adjustment for the SD's.

We know that tax values affect spawn rates.

Some questions:

1. Do market bids affect tax, or only dockside trades? 2. Do market bids affect spawn rate at markets seperately from the tax rate?

2 can be tested fairly simply. Find an island that spawns something, put in a bid. Watch it, make sure that your bid is the only bid at that price. Watch the spawn rate. Watch the tax rate.

Now make a new bid at a price well above the target price. Keep tracking the spawn rate and tax rates.

Does the spawn rate at a market where the bid goes well above the tax rate change the spawn rate seperately from the global tax rate?

As far as I know, this has not been actually tested, just inferred.

I was looking at training route (having been led there from an Indigo Ocean island page, of all things), and peeked at the release notes it referenced; Therein lay that sales tax change, and the link to Peghead's post, and when I took a look at the tax page, I noticed this was a red link (pretty rare in YPPedia). Since I had read the post, I decided to use it to fill in this page, and...I did. :) (I didn't even notice the talk page here until I was nearly done, since it's so unusual for there to be a talk page for a page which doesn't exist.) I don't know how much of what Behindcurtai asked about here we actually, know, but I decided it would be best to have the page here, and let the details filter in. Have fun. --Emufarmers 01:21, 15 May 2006 (PDT)

We could add a link to Indigo taxes http://indigo.puzzlepiraten.de/yoweb/econ/taxrates.wm --Karlimero 11am, 15 May 2006 (CEST)

Are the Indigo pages supposed to be integrated into the wiki, beyond the ocean pages? I've never been quite sure. :/ --Emufarmers 02:39, 15 May 2006 (PDT)
