Talk:Ocean merge

From YPPedia

Toward a featured article

Let's work on this article and get it up to speed in order to feature it on the main page. I have been asked a couple times why we do not change the featured article, and this would be an ideal opportunity to do so. Chupchup 23:04, 21 January 2012 (PST)

Are you still working on this? Want to slap on an image and write a brief summary for the main page? --Belthazar451 15:37, 30 January 2012 (PST)
Starting in January 2012, six oceans in the Puzzle Pirates world are merging into three. The merged oceans will be named Cerulean, Emerald, and Meridian. The maps of each ocean are stitched together, side-by-side. One of each pair of oceans is designated "West" and the other is designated "East". Pirates, crews, and flags may be renamed with the suffix "-West" or "-East" if the same name exists on both merged oceans. The mergers of the English-language oceans were hinted at on December 7, 2011, when the "Intrepid Explorer" Velasco Thorsson posted his journals on the "Hear Ye! Announcements" forum. Cerulean was the first ocean to be tested, opening on January 4, 2012. The official merge will happen on January 31, 2012 at 8am Pirate Time. Chupchup 16:34, 30 January 2012 (PST)

Pre-merge history kept on post-merge articles

(Just to document for future contributors, because I did not find it recorded anywhere else...)

Per my understanding, it was the community consensus, to keep and retain the pre-merge history of islands and buildings (and any other ocean-specific articles, such as same-name pirates/crews/flags run by different players on different oceans) from the pre-merge articles, and record and retain this data in the post-merge versions of those respective articles.

(Confirmation requested, at y'all's convenience, please.)

As an example, the history of Alpha Island from its days on Midnight was to be kept in the version of Alpha Island maintained for Cerulean. -- Franklincain (t/c) 13:47, 28 August 2012 (PDT)

Yes, history should be preserved. If the question relates to any major change or edition, could you please provide an example? --Clotho 11:13, 5 September 2012 (PDT)
