Talk:List of known Kraken lair words
From YPPedia
One form
I merged the supposed two forms again, there is really only one form and the pool contains a lot of nouns preceded by "the". Is that such a big problem? Chupchup 21:01, 10 August 2014 (PDT)
- Obviously, I don't like it as much. I think the redundant "the"s make it harder to scan the list, especially now that the list isn't in alphabetical order. Wrs1864b 05:00, 11 August 2014 (PDT)
- I have to admit, I'm vaguely wondering if the Noun2 pool is itself assembled on the fly out of a pool of adjectives (i.e. Blue, Deep, Endless, Open, Salty) and a pool of nouns (i.e. Abyss, Ocean, Sea, Seaways). It doesn't really work so well, though, because some of the names have only one word and some have three... --Belthazar451 05:57, 11 August 2014 (PDT)
- I've been looking at that also, but I don't see any good patterns yet. It isn't just a pool of adjectives, things like "deep blue" are ok, but not "blue deep". Other adjectives don't go well with certain nouns, like "blue murk", or "high depths". Wrs1864b 08:01, 13 August 2014 (PDT)
- I would pay money for a map named "high depths"... =P --Belthazar451 14:03, 13 August 2014 (PDT)

- I'm not seeing any support for the merged list, and every time I have to scan the list with all the redundant "the"s, I'm frustrated. As a programmer, I cringe to see so many constants that aren't factored out and production rules that aren't in normal form. Wrs1864b 08:01, 13 August 2014 (PDT)
- I support the merged list; I'm not seeing much support for the split list other than you. Belthazar raises an interesting point... perhaps if we had insight from a developer on how the list is really constructed, then we would know. Chupchup 20:29, 14 August 2014 (PDT)
