Talk:List of commodity storage capacities of ships
From YPPedia
Maximum number of items
The table here appears to be accurate as far as the math goes. However, there is one major factor that happens in-game that isn't accounted for here: You cannot put more than 32,767 of any item in a hold, even if you would otherwise have the room. I have tested it with stone bid tickets on a Merchant galleon. Jlh0605 (t/c) 17:07, 18 November 2014 (PST)
- I suggest we do account for it and cap all these numbers at 32767, because publishing an unattainable maximum is false advertising at best. Chupchup 14:20, 19 November 2014 (PST)
- I am fine with that. My suggestion is that we put a * by those numbers, then have a footnote along the lines of "Entries marked with a '*' indicate that the ship could hold more, but they are limited by the 32,767 cap". Jlh0605 (t/c) 14:25, 19 November 2014 (PST)
- On a tangent, do you think we should sort the ships by their relative capacities? It would seem to make the table much easier to use if you could look across an ascending row of numbers rather than having them all jump around randomly. Chupchup 15:49, 19 November 2014 (PST)

missing commods
at least kraken's ink, lifeboats, gems and the various SMH chests are missing. when you use something like YARRG, this table is pretty useless, so I'm not bothering adding them. Wrs1864b 04:31, 20 November 2014 (PST)
recalculated table
I was messing around with a program of mine and realized I could easily recalculate this table from scratch. A few comments:
- One good thing I found is that there were *NO* differences in the numbers.
- My commodity names come from the game and if they don't exactly match what ends up in ship/shop logs, it complains. Apparently, the yppedia plays a little looser, using names such as "Gold nugget" (singular) instead of "Gold nuggets" (plural), or "Kraken egg" instead of "Kraken's egg". Personally, I think the yppedia article names should be fixed, but I don't really care.
- My commod file is missing most chests because, well, I never go on other SMHs. Dunno how you want to deal with them.
- My commod file still has "Gold ore" since I have old ship/shop records with that name. I removed it from the table.

- The wiki always uses singular names, because it's waaaaay easier to make a plural link pipe to a singular page than it is to make a singular link pipe to a plural page (which is to say, to go one way it's just [[gold nugget]]s, while to go the other way, it's [[gold nuggets|gold nugget]]. Of course, now that someone (cough, cough) has gone absolutely nuts about making redirects for everything, that's less of an issue. As for adding lines for missing commodities... their weights and volumes are all listed on the wiki. If only we had someone who could do the calculations... --Belthazar451 13:07, 26 November 2014 (PST)
