Proposed merge with Jonesmelad
Keep separate. First off, is proposing a merge really a minor edit? Anyhow, I'd rather avoid merging with Jonesmelad; the only real connection between the two is that they happen to have been created by the same user. If anything, Jonesmelad should be merged into Flogem, possibly as a history section; Jonesmelad has not been an active pirate since before March '06, Flogem has been active since about March '07. Also, if Flogem was the crew joining sort, then his article would probably be at least as long, and entirely different to, Jonesmelads.--User:LionheartIII 08:56, 20 July 2007
- The merge itself would be a major change; putting a merge tag on is a minor content change in terms of text added to an article. -- Faulkston 12:48, 22 July 2007 (PDT)
Since no reasons, or even links to to guidence that could be interpreted as reasons, have been given on either pages talk page I am removing the merge tag.--LionheartIII 06:35, 21 July 2007 (PDT)
- One day is hardly enough time for a discussion. At least give a week for some comments to be made.
- I would agree that one day is not enough time for a discussion, but by just placing a merge tag does not start a discussion on its own; for that you need to have some reasons as to why it is there. Now that there are some reasons there can actualy be a discussion, and I would no longer feel that a merge tag would be unreasonable, though I would still disagree with the idea. --LionheartIII 04:53, 23 July 2007 (PDT)
- Generally short articles about alternate pirates should be merged into the main pirate's article to avoid hosts of tiny stubs which are unlikely to get expanded. If they do get expanded enough to bloat the main pirate's article, they can then be separated out. -- Faulkston 12:48, 22 July 2007 (PDT)
- That seems a sensible policy in general, but I don't think it aplies here. When Jonesmelad was active he was very active, and built up a fair amount of history, and was very obviously a 'main' pirate, deserving of his own article (which, admitidly was not added at the time). Flogem as originaly envisaged would probably have been a stub (or more likely not worth maing an article about), but things have not turned out like that, and Flogem is now the main pirate. --LionheartIII 04:53, 23 July 2007 (PDT)
