Talk:Fish
I'm getting the idea the method of getting a fish is to be on a sinking ship (chuck the "may" part of that). I sunk twice during Napi I, and got two fish (one that was blue and black, amusingly enough). Furthermore, it'd make sense, you found a fish while getting to shore, no? ;) --Thunderbird 18:12, 8 April 2006 (PDT)
- I got three today myself, all different colors (gold/black (maybe yellow, but it looks goldy so I shall brag), black/red, brown/red). --Fannon 18:17, 8 April 2006 (PDT)
- Keep in mind yellow isn't a valid bludgeon color ;). --Thunderbird 18:20, 8 April 2006 (PDT)
- Sweet! Then it *is* gold! /me beams. --Fannon 18:27, 8 April 2006 (PDT)

The pre-charged balls are meaningless, because they are at the end of the combo queue, and because the pre-charged balls almost always drop before they get popped in a combo.
Also, I wouldn't consider it a luck bludgeon. There has to be a point after which mathematical combinatorics says "yea, there was actually a very good chance that you would eventually run out of those 2 colors"--Boothook 20:30, 29 May 2006 (PDT)
Decay rate
The fish come as old. But there's a debate on the jobbing chat right now as to whether they decay (somewhat similar to the stick decay debate). I can't access the main forums right now, but can we get a fact check on that? --Thunderbird 18:52, 8 April 2006 (PDT)
- They DO decay. My fish (I had two) both dusted on the same login on Ice. It was roughly a week after I won them, but since I got them when they were old, I didnt think to count days. --Zava 20:07, 8 April 2006 (PDT)
- I just got some in Napi today. I racked most of them, but I'm still carrying around a red/green one. I will post again when it dusts. --Benzene265 21:17, 8 April 2006 (PDT)
- It dusted right now. /info says "It is currently Apr 13, 2006 1:16:12 PM PDT on the viridian ocean.". It only lasted five days. --Benzene265 13:18, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks for tracking this. It doesn't quite fit our existing decay model. Innnnnteresting. --Barrister 13:32, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
- That it lasts 5 days seems logical, actually; the idea is probably for one fish to last roughly from the end of one blockade period to the start of the next one, so that you'll have to keep doing blockades to hold onto your fishie friends. --Emufarmers 14:30, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
- 5 days is a bit short of a week :P. --Thunderbird 14:53, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
- I think it's plenty accurate for a fish. Honestly, I can't imagine a real fish lasting five days if I carried it around with me and randomly beat people with it. Of course, if it were strictly realistic, I'd win every rumble because the smell alone would be lethal, even to the noseless. --Benzene265 16:44, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
- Well, yes, but since blockades can be as late as Sunday, this ensures that you can't have a fish at the end of a Sunday blockade, and have a fish at the start of the next weekend's blockade "season." Either that, or Cleaver just happened to be drunk. :P (The rotting reasoning makes sense too; I suppose pirates haven't learned how to salt their fish, and will never know the joys of smoked salmon.) --Emufarmers 17:31, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
- The decay rate might be taking into account the fact that we're getting multiple fish per blockade and that we will most likely use bludgeon trunks or alts to store the extras.--Benzene265 00:25, 14 April 2006 (PDT)

Fish from Atlantis
This page states that fish last 5 days, but the Atlantis page says all items from Atlantis chests last 9 or 10. Anyone want to see which case is true for the fish? --Thunderbird 15:42, 4 March 2008 (PST)
- I don't see where it says that. Isn't it possible to get items in good condition from chests as well? And obviously any Atlantean item will be brand new. Is it even possible to get a fish from a chest? --Chupchup 19:06, 4 March 2008 (PST)
- Linked wrong page. Treasure chest has it. As for fish coming from chests, there were about 3 or 4 from the last divvy I saw. As far as some items being good, the 30 day decay cycle does not hit old until 7 days are left. --Thunderbird 19:18, 4 March 2008 (PST)
- Hmm. I don't think I've ever noticed a fish coming from a treasure chest. I'm going to have to try to get my hands on one for decay experiments. --Barrister 15:01, 5 March 2008 (PST)
