Talk:Event E2/Proposal Sseth

From YPPedia

This sounds like fun. I think you are going to have to be more precise with your rules re impossible screen shots. For example Raelshark's avatar and the Hypnos and Greenies screen makes for the sort of good comedy which I imagine many entrants would like to incorporate. Maybe have it that the usage and repositioning of real screen items is OK. Addition of non-game visuals is not OK. This would allow for some fun and do away with the risk of flying saucers. Or are you trying to design something that everyone can have a go at. Tinkering would give a major advantage to those who are comfortable with digital programmes. Jerze 19:51, 21 January 2006 (PST)

Wee, thx for the comment :) Yes, that's still my major issue with the concept. The "impossible scenes" aspect is not made very clear atm, because I haven't yet decided how to handle that problem. I definitely want a contest where everyone can enter. I can not and also do not want to forbid tinkering anyways, the problem is obvious tinkering like in raelshark's avatar. I'd like to create something for the biggest possible audience. So, as you said, allowing tinkering would more or less narrow the participants down to graphic artists once again. I'd like to avoid that. Because I bet there are people with a great sense of humour and funny ideas out there, who might then think: "D'oh! My story is great, but I lack digital skills. I won't participate.." On the other hand, limiting to "real ingame scenes only" would take away too much fun, both for the people who participate and the ones who just read the comics. Dilemma.. :/

My idea was that having a good story in mind should be at least as important as digital skills. (If not more important.) That would keep the contest open for everyone. So, if I allow tinkering (limited to "game graphics only, but you can do with them whatever you like"), but clearly state that the judges main focus will lie on the creativity of the story.. (Which would be more points can be awarded for the "story" aspect of an entry.) Could that work? Sseth

The wiki's a little sticky wicky about upper/lowercase. Please switch the username to lowercase in the template or move the page to the same articlename, but with uppercase Sseth. --Guppymomma 18:13, 25 January 2006 (PST)
