Talk:Event E2/Proposal JD6627
I could be fuzzy on the details but would it not be possible for anyone to go to a furnisher, write down a list on the value of all furniture items and therefore easily be able to value out the "cases"? Shandra (Taco)
Answer: No the pieces of furniture are only there to represent an amount of poe. It is not their actual in store value. An example may be of more use here.
Crate(1 poe) Sword rack(500)
Bed(50 poe) Table(1000)
Armor(100 poe) Driftwood(1500)
Stool(250) Fish skeleton(3000)
These will be lined up in a room. I will have an assistant who will randomize which amount goes to which piece of furniture so that I will not know the amount either(will only be fair when I am offering them a deal at the end of their turn).
Mock Game:
Me: please pick the case you think will have 3000 poe(values are not determined ye tbut I will use those above)
Contestant:The stool
Me: ok now choose 3 cases that you think will be the lowest in value
Contestant: Table
Assistant: the table is the third highest case valued at 1000 poe.
Me: ouch pick a low one now :)
Contestant: Armor
Assistant: That case is valued at 100 poe
Me: not bad 1 more til the first offer
Contestant: Sword rack
Assistant: that case is 500 poe
Me: don't worry you still have the two highest on the board maybe one of them is your case.
Me: Now taking into account the remaining values on the board I will offer you 800 poe to quit now and go to the next part of competition
Contestant: I want to keep playing
Me: ok please pick 2 more cases to eliminate
Contestant:Driftwood
Assistant:1500 poe the 2nd highest amount!
Me: that's ok 1 in 3 chance of hitting 3k, please choose 1 more then we will have another offer
Contestant: Bed
Assistant: 50 poe
Me: ok you have the crate and fish skeleton are on the board, hopefully they dont have the 3000 and your stool does.
Me: I will offer you 1300 to stop now
Contestant: hmm I have a 50/50 chance but 1300 is too good to pass up, I will take it and go to the next round
Me: ok in one room is a prize valued at more than 1300 and another is one less or nothing at all. Would you like to go for it or keep your poe.
Contestant: what the heck I'll try
Me: ok when I say go choose a room there will be a bedroll in the winning room and nothing in the other.
Me: ok choose now
Contestant: e/ walks into the room on me left
Contestant: Yay I got the one with a bedroll
Me: congratulations ye win a green/yellow stiletto
I hope ye have a better understanding now, please ask anymore questions. Also I am working on changing me description to make it a bit less confusing. I think I am going to remove the pillaging part and make it that the contestant has to sign up in advance (via forums or /tell) and then beat me in a game of their choice (I'll take it fairly easy). Additionally people are limited to one chance at the poe but can try to beat me in the game of their choice until they win.
Gathering contestants
This event sounds interesting. I assume ye will find a completely trustworthy and honest assistant (I recommend having two, so one can verify the other's list before the game begins so prizes cannot "move" mid-game).
I like the idea of a low-level bake-off (excellent takes some skill, but you don't have to be phenominal) as an entry method. Consider finding a mate with a war frigate or other large ship, filling the ship first-come first-served after an oceanwide broadcast, and then using your "anyone with an excellent" method. This will facilitate both finding a good number of contestants and making sure everyone knows the rules of the contest before they get to your bungalow (they will be a captive audience on a ship). --Squashbuckle 18:34, 22 January 2006 (PST)
Kovy says, Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it. I am planning on using the 2 assistant method. As far as bakeoff is concerned I may fill a cutter and spread the event out over multiple days to make it more available. I will let the contestants choose stations on a first come first serve basis. Once again Many thanks on the suggestions, me big worry now is getting enough people :)
1/29/06 NOTE FROM JD6627(Kovy): Please feel free to give me a bit more critisism on my event. I'd like to perfect as much as possible before the deadline.
