Talk:Event E2/Proposal CountCristo

From YPPedia

Unfortunately the time frames you have suggested cuts out just about the entire working population in the US and Canada. Shandra (Taco)

Times are easily fixable, thanks for the suggestion. I have edited, hopefully the new times make it more time zone friendly and still give me time to count votes. If anyone has any other ideas for timelime setup, don't hesitate to post. I appreciate you taking the time to point out the flaws. Cristo (CountCristo)

Judging

Will there be judging criteria or could this turn into a popularity contest? Shandra (Taco)

Just like in the real survivor, only contestants will vote. Also just like the TV show popularity can be just as much of a hinderance as it may help you along. You may get votes because someone feels threatened by your skills. Also there is the element that the people you helped vote out are the ones deciding whether you are the final winner. I wonder if posting voting results, not who voted what just who was voted for elimination, to make it a bit more interesting. (Cristo)

Time

Have you thought about making each block of the contest be two days instead of one? This would cut back on timezone issues and would prevent people from getting too overwhelmed with work. It would make the time set up for judging easier too. Most of the judging would take place at night for the US, and in the beginning of the contest there may not be time to read all the entries. With two weeks for the contest, this would still allow for 7 stories to be written. Really, I was just curious about why it's one story per day? --Peanutswench 08:21, 29 January 2006 (PST)

Hmm, every other day... I like it. I made it a daily event to keep people from loosing interest in the thread and I had an elimination numbers worked out for a 2 week time span after round one. But, I do agree you have a good point with the two day block and elimination schedule is easily changeable. Here is a thought, with the time frame I limited stories to 500 words maximum, with the 2 day blocks would there be enough time for a higher maximum word limit? I'm really glad I got this up here in time to get feedback from more experienced event planners. Thanks. (Cristo)

Questions on Judging

Ok, First question. As it stands now, you've gone to a 2day format, and you must participate every day to stay in. So, I write today, and tomorrow I send you the name of those I'm voting off. I write day three, day 4 I vote somebody off. If I fail to send a nomination to vote off, I'm out of the contest, is that correct? Second question, when contestants vote, are we each sending one name to you, and then you're calculating who received the most votes to be voted off, or, are we sending more than one name and you're taking the high votes? --Muroni 06:50, 8 February 2006 (PST)

Yes, you are correct on your first question, if they don't vote they are eliminated. On your second question, if there is more than one to be eliminated, you will send in as many names as there are people to be voted off. CountCristo
