Puzzle vision

Puzzle vision is a phenomenon whereby a puzzler blocks out any and all stimuli beyond the immediate puzzle in which the player is working. When a player is suffering from puzzle vision, he or she will be unreachable via the chat channels and can only be expected to remain completely enamored with the act of making the puzzle go.
Many players suffer from varying degrees of Puzzle Vision, ranging from the occasional missed tell to the outright failure to heed warnings of impending server restarts.
For most players, the alert whistle is enough to break the spell of puzzle vision.
The third-party software QuarterMaster has various built-in sounds which can help combat puzzle vision.
