Nepenthe
Nepenthe sailed onto the Sage ocean in November 2006. She has since rolled with the tides, eventually reaching her peak as captain of the crew Sanctuary and princess of the flag Grumpy Old Pirates on the Sage Ocean when her previous captain, Podling, resigned from the game. On that day the Grumpy Old Pirates became an oligarchic flag with Nepenthe grandfathered in as one of its unofficial monarchs. That day she also doubled her holdings in ships, shops, and pets; until Podling's return she acted as safe-keeper to his possessions.

Biography
Nepenthe first started playing Puzzle Pirates in November, 2006. She played navy missions for two weeks before realizing what a pillage was, and was drafted by the first crew she jobbed for, Strength and Honor. Their captain, Robc, made her a fleet officer and royal within two weeks of her joining. Robc also taught Nepenthe the value of keeping rum on a vessel, and by attacking low threat-level ships, Robc gave her her first view of El Pollo Diablo.
Realizing there was more to the game and that her quick ascension was not the norm, Nepenthe struck out across Sage searching for a more experienced crew to teach her the ropes. A lucky job offer to bilge for the crew Irish Rogues had her joining that crew. Generously, the Rogues' captain Jjwillis took her in directly as an officer, contrary to crew policy, and taught her his gunning secrets. It was during this time that Nepenthe sailed under crewmate Moneypenny and learned that all the orders she barked out to keep the ship running made her an executive officer.
Nepenthe was with the Irish Rogues and its flag the Rogues of Sage during their golden twilight as they participated in several blockades, including Admiral VII, Admiral VIII, and Blackthorpe VII - the latter two occurring nearly simultaneously so that most of the rounds overlapped and kept the dual-defending Rogues of Sage busy at two ports. She took the helm of a war brig in the last round of the Blackthorpe Blockade, though did little more than "dance" in coordination with her flagmates who sank their monarch JJ as a celebration of victory.
Over the months Nepenthe found many friends through random job offers, but none so great as that friendship formed with Guinethe and her husband Podling. Their crew, Sanctuary, boasted an all-adult membership with little tolerance for irresponsible pirate behavior. Drawn to this atmosphere, their friendship, and Podling's famous 100,000poe (net) pillages, Nepenthe said farewell to the Irish Rogues and joined Sanctuary as a fleet officer.
Sanctuary formed their own flag in January 2007, the Grumpy Old Pirates, with co-founding crew Storming Seadogs headed by Ketther and Khaetlil. The flag grew quickly in fame, reaching #30 within weeks, but gained members too slowly to realize their blockade plans. Thus, co-founders Ketther and Khaetlil left their crew in the hands of captain Mehaa.
Nepenthe became the flag ambassador merely by virtue of her connections from Rogues of Sage and her frequent jobbing. It was at this time in her life she began to receive invitations to be an executive officer in blockades for other flags, and happily accepted. Nepenthe also rose to fame as the ever-present tag-along to Podling, who was at this time rising to #1 on the battle navigation list. She lent one of her sloops to Podling in a sinking event blockade on Blackthorpe and shot down the Kraken Beast, earning the crew a black/black renamed sloop, the Darkness Falls.
Earning poe for the flag blockade fund during the week and XOing for other flags on weekends, Nepenthe has faded into the background of Sage Ocean again, spending most of her time tending to the crew shoppes and stalls. Her only noteworthy deed of recent months was to be executive officer on the over-30-hour Great White Fleet event, which earned the Grumpy Old Pirates enough notice to have a few more crews join their flag.
Nepenthe sailed quietly along, and after inheriting the Captain position of Sanctuary when Podling quit the game in early July, 2007, she was seen less and less often, until her return to more active play in late 2007. By this time most of her crewmates had left for more active crews, and all other crews had left the flag, so Nepenthe took a few portraits to make note of the flag and crew before disbanding both and merging with old-pal Jjwillis' new crew Super Heroes under his flag Undeclared.
Not a month later, the return of Podling brought the old Sanctuary back to life. Podling wanted to avoid being captain this time around, and Nepenthe happily took up the position.

First place in the Santa Sloop Giveaway December 2006 - won a green-painted sloop and a candy cane.

11th place (Semi-finalist) in the Bilging Bakeoff of March 2007 - won a rose from the OMs.
Executive officer for the two-day war brig circumnavigation of sage, Great White Fleet, May 2007 - received a prestigious medal trinket from captain Podling.
3rd place in Sage Needs a Large's victory drinking tournament, June 2007 - won 100,000poe and a long-stemmed rose with card trinket.
Owns Hurricane Hulls shipyard, White Star Looms weavery, and Deep Sea Dyevers apothecary shoppe on Scrimshaw Island, as well as 3 additional stalls on that island.
Achieved ultimate in navigation and bilging.
Pets
All of Nepenthe's pets reside on Scrimshaw Island.
