Current Nominations
These are the current nominations.
Andyp (Midnight)
Event: The treasure ship
Date:
Explanation: Fun for all the ocean, on a regular basis. No need to be super-awesome at anything, just rope in some friends, comandeer a ship and away you went! A great time if you won (100k-ish on board!), lost, or didn't even get a shot (har har) in that week :) --manky
Armestrang (Midnight)
Event: Spring 24-hour party
Date: June 26-27 2004
Explanation: I've listed these two events together because they were both run by the event running group of people in what is now Avalon. They were both 24-hour events with constant mini events going on around the clock. I listed all six people because they all contributed to the planning and execution, however only two of the six were there for both MsViolaceous and Jezebel. I am nominating them because while they ran these fabulous events for the whole ocean to enjoy, they also run events within flag that I feel enrich our game experience. And this would be a great way to return the recognition of their hard work and effort. --taelia
Baldo (Midnight)
Event: 2006 Midnight Series of Poker 2006 Ocean Poker Tour
Dates: August 4th 7:45pm Pacific and October 15th 2006 to January 27th 2007
Explanation: Baldo was the Event Organizer and Host. Everything was organized extemely well. The times set were met promptly and all rules and questions were addressed. Everyone had a really great time, me included. It was one of the best poker tournments I have been to and I often go to ones in real life. I really believe all the hardwork Baldo has put into the Midnight Series of Poker is really amazing and brings the poker playing puzzle pirate community together (trying saying that 10 times fast). That is why I am nominating him for a Artemis Doll. I recently rejoined Puzzle Pirates after many years of being apart from the game. The last time I played before my rejoin was during the Beta phase of Puzzle Pirates. I didnt continue to play because I didnt feel there was a enough content to subscribe to it eventhough i ended up losing a lot of friends I met. But with the new additions to the game and events like this, it really push me to subscribe to this wonderful game after all this time. --GameZMaster
Baldo, upon request on Apollo, extended the Midnight Series of Poker to the other oceans, putting in many, many hours of time and effort, making sure the events ran smoothly. He did months of research into the planning of the poker events, making sure the rules were watertight. Together with the help of his team, he organised hundreds of pirates on each ocean to play in the tournament, with a lot more 'locked out' due to the mass popularity of this event. We all know how popular poker is, well this was the most popular and fun poker event anyone has done in YPP history. Please give serious consideration to award Baldo a doll for the hard work and dedication he has put in, for both the Midnight Series of Poker and the Ocean Tour which was done upon the request of another OM. --Dolgan
Bushyness (Midnight)
Event: Knight and Day of the Round Table
Date: October 22 and 23 2005
Explanation: I've listed these two events together because they were both run by the event running group of people in what is now Avalon. --taelia
Charun (Viridian)
Event: Various Tourneys and Competitions: Naming Contest Example: cabins, Naming Contest Example: Shipyard, Styx Ferry Race, Ferry Repair Competition, Ferry War: practice blockade
Date: Ongoing
Explanation: Hardly a week goes by without seeing at least on competition or another being run by Charun. Each event is clearly written and takes into account a variety of different puzzles in the game and he's wonderful about remaining in character throughout them. Bottom line is that the events are fun and well-organized and I'm looking forward to the next round of competitions coming up. --Nowie
aye i 2nd dat his events have been good fun to take part in and help run =). --yohohobob
I second Nowie's nomination of Governor Charun. He has done a great deal for Viridian by way of contests and events. As Nowie stated, I think that some of the events were from as early as November and, if that is the case, he would be qualified for nomination. He certainly deserves some public recognition for his very active role as governor. --PinkPaisley
Crazee (Sage)
Event: Greenie Fest
Date: July 1st- July 20th and other days too
Explanation: Crazee helped so many people during these days. He donated so much of his time and devotion into this event with all his hard work. He donated sloops and even a war brig and some black clothes and did it all by him self with no ones help. He put up with person after person after person sending him tells saying U give poez and not ONCE did he EVER say something mean to them. He gave away so much of his free time and his money to do this event which was raved about from many people such as Scarymuffin one of the greatest event planners in the game. Crazee put so much work into not only with the Ugivpoez idea but with the whole Battle Navigating Tourtament coming up that i think he deserves the doll. --gsdogizzle
Crush (Hunter)
Event: Hallow's Eve Party on Hunter
Date:
Explanation: Crush and Squirt did an awesome job running many mini-events for their Hallow's Eve Party on Hunter. I spent most of the day with them. They offered something for everyone and considered players of every type. The in game events all ran smoothly and went well and they put a lot of time and effort into this. Everybody had fun and it deserves recognition for their efforts. --Synful
Dotte (Midnight)
Event: Rexelita's Memorizing Midnight Event
Date: Oct. 22 & 23
Explanation: Rexelita, Dotte, Theorize and a few others spent a hefty proportion of their weekend charting. That weekend, I did 26 hours of navigation, and was charted endlessly whenever I needed it. Although I shouldn't derail into the second one, the fact that they loaned out heir own sloops for this, and Rexie went round giving valentine cards out helped even more to spread the navigation love. --Piplicus_BNO
Drilly (Midnight)
Event: Spring 24-hour party
Date: June 26-27 2004
Explanation: I've listed these two events together because they were both run by the event running group of people in what is now Avalon. They were both 24-hour events with constant mini events going on around the clock. I listed all six people because they all contributed to the planning and execution, however only two of the six were there for both MsViolaceous and Jezebel. I am nominating them because while they ran these fabulous events for the whole ocean to enjoy, they also run events within flag that I feel enrich our game experience. And this would be a great way to return the recognition of their hard work and effort. --taelia
Fable (Malachite)
Event: I vow to thee, my Mnemosyne, Fable's Musical Art Competition, 100 Dub Avatar Challenge, and *Win a familiar* Help Malachite Celebrate it's 1st Birthday!.
Date: Spread out over Spring 2009
Explanation: Most of these were based upon avatar competitions where avatar artists, and regular pirates, could design photos of certain items that Fable stipulated in matching the pirate world with certain music topics. Another one was a big celebration with giving away of a familiar to a lucky lad or lass in a celebration of Malachite's Birthday. Another was a writing competition to write about Mnemosyne in a lyric competition. This nomination is very well deserved. --Justinmickey
Fara ()
Event: Jellytoast's Quest for Logic
Date: It took a couple of months, finishing in November(?) 2004
Explanation: This was the forum-based logic puzzle contest (with story outline) that inspired me to make me own such. I particularly liked the chapter that required me to dig up information on various pirates in-game and/or in forums. I doubt that me own Dare to be Logical would have happened without the Jellytoast contest or something similar. --tcarr
Feylind ()
Event: Plundered Poems[1][2], Space Pirates!, cohosted Sloop Blackjack, Trivia Trick or Treat 2006
Date: Plundered Poems was run twice, Space Pirates is a currently running event (late winter 2007)
Explanation: I'd like to niominate Feylind for her Plundered Poems events(2 now) and also for space pirates. She's proven herself to be quite capable in running events. Her directions are clear and she attends to the threads regularly so if there are additional questions, she's there to handle it. I feel she is quite deserving of an Artie doll. =) --Synful
Yar, I'll add to the nomination for Feylind, as she's also rocked in some Midnight specific events - co-hosting Sloop Blackjack with PTG, and organizing Trivia Trick or Treat 2006. --Whedonella
I would like to second Synful's nomination. Blackbeth/Feylind has ran 2 events wonderfully and in the midst of a third. As a participant I found them very creative and fun. Also the events have drawn quite a large number of entrants. with plundered poems combined producesing well over 100 valid entries and space pirates producing close to 200 entries!
Feylind conduct and additude as an event planner make her a wonderful role model for all other prospective planners. She is an asset to the event planner community. --kgarrett1969
I would like to third that nomination. I'm glad to see some people had the same idea as me. :P --Shorty_Jack
I'll add my endorsement of this nomination. Feylind is one of the few players who ran multiple top-quality events in 2007. --Squashbuckle
Fullbeard (Midnight)
Event: Cold Steel Gunning
Date: Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, 2 PM CST
Explanation: This Event took place shortly after the Familer Gunning Event. The Whole idea of the gunning event after was to raise credability of future gunning events. The Familier Event was heavily critised due to the conditions the participents were placed under and the time it took to complete, requiring the contestants stand still in silence, an accidentel chat booch and insta planks. This Gunning event was ran rather well In my opinion, many judges helping to get players a quick experiance with low hassle. The turn out was lower than hoped honestly, partially down to the earlier event and a conflicting activity which happened at the same time if i recall. The event had more room for others to take part though. So I feel this Event has opened the doors for future gunning events, rather than the attidude of I wouldnt want to touch that event with a barge pole after the previous event. Fullbeard though up the idea and fronted a number of the prizes. --Ian_Rhodes
Honeypie (Midnight)
Event: Nu Casino Day
Date: 20 Nov 2005
Explanation: This was a massive event that I personally know the ladies of Epic spent months planning for. It had a varied list of activities, almost every single one of them partially or completely innovative, and gave away bootyloads of cash and prizes. It was one of the rare event annoucements that I read and say, "Oh holy wow. That is pretty cool." --kaosfere
Ilya (Cobalt)
Event: Steps at Top
Date: Nov 11th 2007
Explanation: This was an awesome event. There was lots of neat prizes and almost everyone got a chance to play. He had great prizes such as stocked sloops, starfish, and many more neat items. He always gives away everything he earns. He ran lots of great events and put his best into them, took time on everything. Kinda sad to see him give away mostly everything he owns but he says its a gift for him to see people so happy. I think he deserves this doll a lot cause he spends so much time on events and has barely anything for himself, He would be so happy if ye awarded him the doll. --Slava309
Jezebel (Midnight)
Event: Knight and Day of the Round Table & Spring 24-hour party
Date: October 22 and 23 2005, June 26-27 2004
Explanation: I've listed these two events together because they were both run by the event running group of people in what is now Avalon. They were both 24-hour events with constant mini events going on around the clock. I listed all six people because they all contributed to the planning and execution, however only two of the six were there for both MsViolaceous and Jezebel. I am nominating them because while they ran these fabulous events for the whole ocean to enjoy, they also run events within flag that I feel enrich our game experience. And this would be a great way to return the recognition of their hard work and effort. --taelia
Lorry (Midnight)
Event: Nu Casino Day
Date: 20 Nov 2005
Explanation: This was a massive event that I personally know the ladies of Epic spent months planning for. It had a varied list of activities, almost every single one of them partially or completely innovative, and gave away bootyloads of cash and prizes. It was one of the rare event annoucements that I read and say, "Oh holy wow. That is pretty cool." --kaosfere
MsViolaceous (Midnight)
--taelia
Muroni (Midnight)
Event: Muroni's White Christmas White Elephant
Date: December 2005
Explanation: When I saw this thread Muroni's White Elephant Event immediately came to mind. What a great event! This was a fun and original idea on a giant scale. Muroni put gobs of thought, effort, time and poe into this event. I can't imagine having the patience to sit around on the docks being spammed with trade requests for hours on end (not to mention explaining the rules). Her number/prize randomization technique was excellent. It was lots of fun to trade my junk for valuable items, and I acutally won my very first trinket in this event. This was one event I made sure to tell all my flagmates about. --fuzzybunny
Pure kindness. --Piplicus_BNO
My searching is horrible. This last christmas someone had a "trade-in" event. But a search for "christmas trade event" didn't turn up anything relavent. Oh -- I think it was Muroni. --BehindCurtai
Mylusa (Midnight)
Event: Spring 24-hour party
Date: June 26-27 2004
Explanation: I've listed these two events together because they were both run by the event running group of people in what is now Avalon. They were both 24-hour events with constant mini events going on around the clock. I listed all six people because they all contributed to the planning and execution, however only two of the six were there for both MsViolaceous and Jezebel. I am nominating them because while they ran these fabulous events for the whole ocean to enjoy, they also run events within flag that I feel enrich our game experience. And this would be a great way to return the recognition of their hard work and effort. --taelia
Onelove (Midnight)
Event: Battle of the Sexes Blockade
Date: June 3rd, 2006
Explanation: Onelove's first ocean-wide event was a smashing success. This men vs. women blockade was extremely well organized, with hundreds participating, some even doubscribing on Midnight just for the event. Emphasis was placed on allowing as many as possible to drive boats into the blockade. Over 100 cutters and brigs were borrowed from mates across the ocean and floated to Eclipse, then returned to their original locations and owners less than a week later. Stock and raffle prizes (aside from OM-supplied trinkets) were donated entirely by generous mates on Midnight. There have been many inquiries as to when the next Battle of the Sexes Blockade will be held. --dbavirt
Orsino (Viridian)
Event: Avatars Reloaded
Date: February-March 2006
Explanation: Orsino's contest to create avatars to replace the standard mvnForum ones was a wonderful contest idea. It saved us from having to stare at hideous, completely non-piratey default avatars. It was great fun helping him out and I enjoyed the fact that artists were allowed to compete at appropriate levels (amateur & "professional"). He worked very hard in coming up with a good variety of categories for the entries with both a judging panel & separate prizes for artist's choice voted upon by the entrants, allowing for a little more depth in their participation. --lorkiria
Peanutswench (Hunter)
Event: Nu Casino Day, helped Fava (event governor on Cobalt) as Chilibean, Bedtime Story for Piggy Ariadne, has run a series of over a dozen small forum events in Hunter Events (Here's one example), Avatars for the Unsung Pirate, Draw Your Demise and the sister event Write Your Obituary, Bah Lovebug
Dates: 20 Nov 2005, May-July 2006, June 2006, ongoing, April 2007, October 2007, Feb 2008
Peanutswench was a huge help to me as Chilibean, assisting in every single event I ran over the course of three months. She even found time to run her own familiar-giving writing and art contest during that time. --Fava
Phoenix (Viridian)
Event: Children of Chaos event blockade (Viridian)
Date: 18 Dec 2005
Explanation: Well, any event to which I've been called in to get a cutter shot full of holes can't be bad. Also, Phoe handled a mass of people very well, and people from Requiem were raving about it after the fact- and many of them were just there to flagsit! I was watching rounds 1 and 2 and that went very well, as well. --Demonyaj
Polly (Hunter)
Event: Nu Casino Day, Event Governor of Lima on Cobalt (as Fava), Pirate Paparazzi (as Fava), Design a Banstick (as Fava), Write Your Obituary and the sister event Draw Your Demise, Sea Monster Sing-Along, Happy Hallmark Holiday
Dates: 20 Nov 2005; For three months beginning May 1 and Ending July 2006; 18 Feb 2007; April 2007; Oct 2007; Nov 2007; Feb 2008
Explanation: Nu Casino was a massive event that I personally know the ladies of Epic spent months planning for. It had a varied list of activities, almost every single one of them partially or completely innovative, and gave away bootyloads of cash and prizes. It was one of the rare event annoucements that I read and say, "Oh holy wow. That is pretty cool." --kaosfere
The three months she spent as the event governor of Lima island, she ran a multitude of events. The most popular one seemed to be A Punch in the Kidneys, although all of her events were met with great success. Each event was well thought out and executed beautifully. Her plan for governor can be seen here --Synful
Rappak (Cobalt)
Event: Merchant Race around the Jade Arch
Date: August 27th, 2005
Explanation: He organized this, found judges to make it fair, went around the entire arch to governors asking for their assistance where it came to the commodities, gathered prizes for other places, made it a fun event, and did a swell job of it all. It was just as exciting to watch as it was to participate in I think. Please if I left anything out, someone add to this nomination. --Synful
Rexelita (Midnight)
Event: Rexelita's Memorizing Midnight Event plus 100k Fashion Show & Contest on Park with 2 separate 10k drinking tournaments and 2 separate 10k sword fighting tournaments
Date: Oct. 22 & 23
Explanation: How often do you see a truely philantropic event? This, and it's February sequel, had Rexie and her fellow charters give up a good portion of their weekend to be at the beck and call of ANYONE who wanted charting assistance. It was extremely well thought out and implemented, and a blast to participate in due to the built in support system of fellow memmers belonging to the same crew. Along with the obvious memming reward for participants, the event has spawned new friendships and a contagious spirit of memming assistance. --SeanaMO
Rexelita, Dotte, Theorize and a few others spent a hefty proportion of their weekend charting.
The fashion show had multiple categories and thus a lot of variety. The post-show tournaments catered to those pirates less inclined towards creative wardrobe choices. So, a nicely balanced event. The memorizing event required a lot of planning and involved a lot of pirates. Not to mention getting charter members (pun) and sloops for sailing. It greatly expanded the Ocean knowledge of mates who took part. --Faulkston
Shortsea (Sage)
Event: PoE is for PoEts!
Date: Month of February 2007
Explanation: Shortsea's first thread, the begining didn't start so well, but he had the courtesy to take his own money from his wallet to make a contest compatible for all Oceans, he had to work EXTREMELY hard to get 17.5k in ALL Oceans, even knowing that he was going through some, financial problems, and all for the purpose, of creating a fun and original post, so that other players wouldn't get bored! He even took some time to explain me all the Forums basics (colors, links [this has nothing to do with the post, just wanted to let ye know] ). I know the contest ended 27 Feb. but i'm not sure when it began, it was late January, something like that.
Well I trully hope he gets picked, because altough he just started posting things on the forums shortly, he created an original post, wich provided lots of fun to other players, I believe more contests are yet to come from Shortsea.
Thank you for listening. --ChantFox
I have to sponsor for Shortsea too, I really loved that poe is for poets contest, and he used his own money ( I didn't knew that!) --Lady_Turkey
Squirt (Hunter)
Event: Hallow's Eve Party on Hunter
Date:
Explanation: Crush and Squirt did an awesome job running many mini-events for their Hallow's Eve Party on Hunter. I spent most of the day with them. They offered something for everyone and considered players of every type. The in game events all ran smoothly and went well and they put a lot of time and effort into this. Everybody had fun and it deserves recognition for their efforts. --Synful
Stevensam (Cobalt)
Events: The PoE is Right, Lime Day and Extreme Pirate Makeover: Ship Edition!
- Dates:
- The PoE is Right - has been running for over a year now (6 episodes so far)
- Lime Day - began on December 16, 2007 and is a monthly event occurring on the 16th of each month
- Extreme Pirate Makeover - December 21, 2007
Explanation: This event was innovative and fun for players and spectators. it included many clever sub-games and the price-determining scheme actually works for keeping contestants guessing.
After two runnings - both funded completely by Stevensam - people continue to beg for more with virtually no complaints. --Squashbuckle
- Further to Squashbuckle's entries, I am updating this nomination after further events that would warrant addition pointing at Stevensam. The PoE is Right has primarily been funded by Stevensam and is celebrating it's one year anniversary on January 19th and 20th. Lime Day has also inspired a Lime Day on the Midnight Ocean and Colors Day on the Ice Ocean. The comments on the event thread for the Extreme Pirate Makeover speak for themselves. There have always been plenty of compliments towards Stevensam and his well run events! -- Cedarwings (talk) 08:26, 18 January 2008 (PST)
Doll Winners
These are nominations which were successful. Please see Artemis for your doll if you have not yet received it. Artemis' page also lists other pirates who have won dolls outside of the nomination process.
Bluetta (Midnight)
Event: 20/0 with Bluetta Walters and Captain Cleaver, Amazing Race, Physical Manifestations
Date: 5/24
Explanation: This was a truly brilliant concoction - the ventrillo conversation with Cleaver was a great and unique way to 'spend' Cleaver's time as won from the auction, and is something that Shanty Radio has been able to share with those not lucky enough to nab a seat via the raffle, or by winning one of the two exceptional contests. The Physical Manifestations contest brought out some of the most lovely creative work and that's been done in any contest to share with the community...the kniterati blanket, Yawl's nav puzzle, Sseth's adorable octo...and then some. The Amazing race sent people all over the ocean and tested their puzzling ability in more than one way! All in all, Bluetta is very deserving of her own Artemis doll for cleverly contracting out the talents of two very fine pirates (Cleaver and LeJerque) in order to bring the Midnight ocean two very different, well-run and well-planned events that appealed to a wide range of pirates, and culminated in a unique one-time experience for all the
I second this nomination. What started on ventrilo as a silly idea to buy Cleaver at an auction (to make him sing for us, hehe), managed to turn into a GREAT event - fun for all who participated! Blue put so much work and thought into it and she really deserves a doll. Really. --DolphineQ
Bootlicker (Midnight)
Event: Duty nav for a parrot!
Date: February 2006
Explanation: The amount of time spent in devising and testing for this event plus the ability to make hardened veteran navigators eat their words ;) The familiar event itself took a few hours to complete, let alone the testing --DubRub
Chihiro (Midnight)
Event: The Search for Ironfisted (RM's 2nd Birthday)
Date: January 2006
Explanation: --stripey2004
Complicated (Midnight)
Event: The Black Death Toruny (which ever one you want) [3]
Date: Various
Explanation: Perhaps the biggest sword fighting tournament series ever to grace the oceans? I am alittle suprised that no one has mentioned it. Maybe I missed it? --3eyedSusy
Duuh, yes, definately the Black Death Tournies! --BehindCurtai
Crystalclaws (Midnight)
Event: Battle of Trafalger
Date: October 21, 2005
Explanation: Crystalclaws planned and organized the event with incredible skill. Not only was the even creative in its use of a historic anniversary in a blockade setting, but also included generous prizes both on the sea, and on land in 3 tournies. It allowed many people to navigate in a blockade event, since much of the battling was limited to sloops. --1ikate
CC has run several events including the All Night Whiteley, Battle of Trafalger. --stripey2004
Feegle (Midnight)
Event: Silver Dusk
Date: Saturday, December 10th 2005
Explanation: A flag birthday event that involved the entire ocean. With a wonderful plot and script involving members of rival ocean factions, teamwork, puzzles and great prizes, Silver Dusk was a sublime event that used a great blend of forum and ingame action. It was the most original event for a long time. --stripey2004
Ishtar (Midnight)
Event: Pumpkin Carving contest, Secret Santa's gift exchange (2005)
Date: Oct '05, Christmas 2005
Explanation: I know this wasn't the largest contest... but it was the most fun I've ever had in any event. Most of the prizes came from Ishtar herself, and the judging was above reproach. It took an activity in RL and allowed us to bring it in game. The amount of effort that people spent was incredible, and all in all I think every single entrant loved the event. --Peanutswench
How could we forget this A simple idea but one that required a great deal of organisation as pirates nominated and had to be matched up, kept in contact and above all kept happy when some failed to show. The outstanding thing about this event was that each pirate that took part most likely made at least two new friends and with all the spying and skulking that went on, probably a whole lot more. Many of us expanded our hearty lists and thereby opened up our opportunites to carry on these friendships. Given the generous prizes it also inspired pirates to be creative in their gift giving with hilarious and sometimes moving results. --Jerze
Very, very, very hearty second... Ishy invested a lot of emotional and material resources into making this event a success, and put up with a lot of bad, ba, bad stuff to see it hrough. (That's not to say that all the other events are walks in the park, but she personally handled, tracked, and if necessary replaced dozens of gifts, often navigating lying givers and greedy recipients who didn't get the idea of "You have to give a gift, too.") She did this across all four oceans. Now that's something. --ponytailguy
Jacksparrow (Midnight)
Event: Art Contest: Draw the Ringers!
Date:
Explanation: the first, as far as I know and am concerned the first art contest worth mentioning on the PP forum, not because i got a mention, but because it started so many great contests in the what was to become "The Mariner's Muse". A great event, a great contest and the starter to many mant great contests to come. --StoneKrush
Jacquilynne (Midnight)
Event: Poetry Death Match
Date: September through November 2005
Explanation: This was a fantastic creative event where people faced off against each other in a double-elimination tournament-style contest to see who could write the best poem to fit a given subject and poetic form. The idea was unique and attracted over 100 entrants. As the event planner, Jacquilynne came up with the idea and worked out all the logistics (rules, announcements, scheduling, prizes, etc.) to ensure that the event would be successful. During the event, Jacquilynne was responsible for selecting the subject and poetic form for each round, collating all the poem submissions, posting the tournament brackets and the poems on the wiki in a nicely organized format, and collecting votes from participants to decide who would advance to the next round. The contest itself took over two months from start to finish, and Jacquilynne had to deal with submission and voting deadlines occurring every two or three days. It turned out to be a brilliantly executed event. As a participant, I was not an avid
Jacquilynne has run great events like the Short Story Familiar Contest, Poetry Deathmatch and E2: Event Event! --stripey2004
JPC (Midnight)
Event: Midnight Piratical Pictorial Puzzlement
Date: December 2005-January 2006
Explanation: This was a devilishly clever contest where people had to identify the locations of 59 screenshots and pick out how the screenshots had been altered. Once the alterations were found, they would lead to a goal location in each archipelago. Finding the goal location for each arch would get you an extra screenshot. The 8 arch screenshots would lead to a final treasure location. However, the trick was that each screenshot had words surrounding the picture which had clues to where to go next. Most people were able to find the arch locations within the first few days just by analyzing the pictures and hunting for the alterations. But it took another month before someone figured out the word clues leading to the final treasure location. That's how clever the puzzle was. The amount of creativity and effort that went into designing this event must have been tremendous. --B_licker
Kingpriam (Midnight)
Event: Avatar Iron Chef & now Ultimate Iron Chef, Midnight Master Marathon
Date: Bi-Monthly event started in March; July 22
Explanation: This event was based on recipes that the participants had to make an avatar, entailing the recipe details. This event gave many people a chance to showcase their work and pushed them to reach inside themselves. KP ran this event himself using his own poe and sloops. He did not ask for any assistance from the OM's until he started this new Ultimate Iron Chef event. He basically gave away everything he had. --ms_national
Get as many Master ranks starting from scratch in a mere 3 hours. Simple? Maybe to play in. To run, judge and prevent cheatin? Forget it. The competition was incredible, very nerve-wracking and was made possible entirely by the will of the good man KP and his horde of helpers. The logistics of keeping track of the whereabouts and potential cheating of about 85 pirates for three hours is mind-blowing, yet this event went off on-time with no issues and less than a handful of complaints. If not a doll, then at least a major hats off to KP for one of the smoothest, well run and most fun events I've participated in my 3 years here. (Though I'm thinking doll) --DiamondDog
Kingpriam. Dude. Two totally different, totally fantastic events, as described above. This man needs a Doll of Artemisness, stat! --ruby_spoon
LeJerque (Midnight)
Event: [Litterary Puzzles
Date:
Explanation: --BehindCurtai
This was a team puzzling event with puzzles embedded in a story. Twas the first forum-based event that I participated in (me main at the time was on Mlik's team). The date was back in summer of 2004 methinks. --tcarr
LeJerque: Race for the Ruined Ring. Three words; epic, historic and pure fun. --stripey2004
Looseweed (Midnight)

Lordkalvan (Midnight)
Event: Dare to be Logical!
Date: May through July 2005
Explanation: This was a logic puzzle event with a new story-type logic puzzle posted every week. Lordkalvan was the event organizer and was responsible for writing the puzzles, providing the prizes, and grading the submissions. The puzzles were challenging, well-written, and fit well in a piratey storyline. There were a total of 6 puzzles and a very generous prize pool. Lordkalvan was very reponsive during the event, quick to correct errors and answer questions about the puzzles. I am a sucker for logic puzzles and, during the event, I would anxiously watch the forums on Friday afternoons, just waiting for the next puzzle to be posted. --B_licker
I would also like to nominate LK for this "event". The logic puzzles have been something that stuck with me for a number of reasons. I first met my girlfriend whilst we were both trying to puzzle out the answers to those questions. She won a sloop in the event, which she's dedicated to me in a way (I got a mention in the notice board, yay). It's the first thing that really got me thinking about the "mechanics" of the game - attempting to work out the booty split mathematics. I think of ypp and I associate it with logic puzzles! lol ... hope there's gonna be another one o' these soon! --SiM99
Lordkalvan's events run on Beta must number at least double figures, including Dare to be Logical. --stripey2004
Pennsuedo (Midnight)
Event: the original 24 hour bashes: First RR Bash, Second RR Bash

Piplicus (Midnight)
Event: Booty or No Booty
Date: April 8th - the present
Explanation: Y!PP's first truly on-going game show. Week after week Pip has managed to bring a bit of excitement and chance to the lives of pirates from all walks of life. By offering a variety of ways to enter Booty or No Booty has become an event that more pirates from all levels of the game can aspire to. Plus, he'll ocassionally give away a familiar. --Fiddler
Which reminds me, if Pip doesn't have a doll yet, he deserves one for Booty or No Booty. The event of the year, easily. Though he probably already got one and I just missed where it was posted. =P ... Pip has invested probably hundreds of hours of work into making this, in my opinion, the best run event I've seen in my piratey career. Not only is it a fun, really game-showesque atmosphere, but the trinkets you need to get in (Golden Tickets, ala Charlie and the Chocolate Factory =D) made absolutely ideal mid-range prizes for tournaments, above regular trinkets and cards but far enough below familiars that the average joe had a chance of winning them. Not to mention the prizes for the contest are superb, and it is all around great fun. Please at least seriously consider giving Pip a doll: he deserves it. Cheers! --juventus1

Scupperer (Viridian)
Event: Scupperer's Real-Life Doubloon Design Challenge!; Yer REAL Doubloons are on the way!
Date:
Explanation: Doubloons! Real, honest to goodness, shiny and golden doubloons! And Scupperer made it all possible. He thought it up, enticed the artists to design the coin, took the orders, and fronted a whole load of money himself to see that these were made. And then he sent them to us, to every person that ordered them. I know dozens of mates were made happy when they got thier coins, and I know that many more are still finding that joy when they receive a doubloon in the mail from a friend or mate.-- Fiddler
Shark (Midnight)
Event: The Search for Ironfisted (RM's 2nd Birthday)
Date: January 2006
Explanation: Shark and Chihiro were the engine drivers behind this complex and original event. With the use of animation as a cornerstone behind the clues and updates in this long-running event, Shark put hours into producing entertaining material that turned a simple game of hunt and seek into a thrilling manhunt, the animation medium allowing pirates from all aspects of the community to contribute. Chihiro's work in devising several complex, demanding clues that tied into the animation and the main plot of the event brought a fresh new perspective to what can be a very tired genre. The key thing about this event was that it turned what could be a very inclusive crew celebration into an ocean-wide contest with a fresh twist in the form of Y!PP-themed animation. --stripey2004
Silverdawg (Midnight)
Event: The Black Death Toruny (which ever one you want) [4]

Sky (Midnight)
Event: Oh noes! Where's my nose?
Date: Currently running
Explanation: Although this is my own event, and it is currently running, I feel the artwork Sky contributed to it has definately made it what it is. (Did I mention she isnt done yet??) She volunteered, knowing I have nothing to offer her in return, has so far done 10 unquestionably excellent depictions of some of the OMs and started this way back when she was still facing finals at the end of the school year. She has agreed to do 11 MORE works for this event working around a couple vacations - and putting her avatar business on semi-hold. This is a truely generous gift and I would love to see her rewarded for it. --Shandra
Snowpea (Midnight)
Event: Avatar Art Contest: Things Pirates Do Behind Your Back
Date: Sept/Oct 2005
Explanation: People using their portraits/in game screenies to create images of their pirates outside of their natural game environment. The interest was huge and the turnout was impressive for this event and was handled very professionally and the tension in waiting during the judging made it that much more enjoyable. Sheerly for the organization and professionalism of both Lord Kalvan and the event runner surely was quite an achievement. --d4rk0n3
Synful (Hunter)

Events were open to the entire ocean and included sloop races, a foot race, drinking, treasure drop and sword fighting tourneys and an event new to the Cobalt ocean, red-light green-light (which was hugely popular and a fun opportunity for even the newest of players to win a prize). Weeks of fund-raising, planning and preparation went on to make this event the flawless success it was. Another event (fashion show) organized and hosted by Synful. This one featured prizes in 3 categories with a total of more than 70 prizes being offered. This event was unique because it featured a non-subscriber category, allowing the oceans newest pirates to participate. --hoofhearted

Date:
Explanation: Duhhhhh taco rules! she is da bomb at organising events! --Arty_pirate
Whiplashjack ()
Event: Whiplashjack's Double Hide 'n Seek Contest
Date:
Explanation: This contest was great fun. Pirates were hidden in screen shots all over Midnight, on one island per archipelago. In many cases only an eye of the pirate was visible. Contestants had to travel all over the ocean, identifying the location of the screenshot, then finding and describing the location of the hidden pirate. A great deal of work was involved in designing the competition and altering the screenies so effectively. A benefit for contestants was an increased knowledge of all the islands on Midnight as it involved a thorough exploration often to the extent of walking around many unknown areas. It's amazing what you find in out of the way places. hmm, I'm pretty sure there's still a *lot* of printouts I done for this event in our laptop bag at home. Must remember to have a look & clear it out :) --Jerze
Whitefire (Midnight)
Event: The Month of the Dingo
Date: August-September '05
Explanation: In celebration of winnning Gaea and as a gift to residents of the island, Whitefire planned and ran 15-20 events over a month long period. The events ranged from card variants, like Anti-Hearts, to complicated PvP events, such as the Piggy Roast. Some were even multiple day contests, like the Rasta Literary Challenge. The sheer number and variety of events over such a long span of time is what I find so impressive. --Talisker
A number of us had a blast participating in this..especially being a little piggy for a day. --melissab
