Bilge Sponge
The bright yellow bilge sponge, also known as the Swiss Cheese of the Sea, goes wherever the sea's currents take it. It sucks in any water and Wooden Plankton that are nearby as it floats, then expunges the shells of the wooden plankton after they are digested. It takes no other actions, making it easy prey for those that hunt them.
Bilge sponges are hermaphroditic, releasing large clusters of seeds every few years. However, the sponges' ability to take in large amounts of liquid makes it popular with tailors, who use them to make the legendary Boots of Bilging +5. Furthermore, predators like the Midnight Sea Cucumber and the Vampiric Lungspider like to munch on the sponges or suck out their stored water. Even with their fast reproduction rate, there are only around 1,500 bilge sponges left.
