Public Statement

Welcome to Schwa-Faction... Not a crew. FAMILY. No matter what... we are one.

(By the way... The Ship Restocking Rate is 29%, not an even number like 30%. Why? 'Cause prime numbers RULE. =D )

-An aged, scarred man with a determined expression on his worn face slowly walks down the ramp of a large, futuristic War Brig in port, and stands before the crowd of awaiting onlookers, using his Lime-Navy Cane to support himself. He clears his throat, and begins to speak...-

Welcome, my bretheren, to "Schwa"-Faction.

I govern not a crew of pirates, but a family of brothers and sisters. All are equal.

-The old man limps away, and as he boards the futuristic War Brig "Astral Bastion" and sails away to lands unknown, he hears the air explode behind him with applause and cheers.-

Crew Articles

There are rules to be followed in this family, be you a jobber, an Officer, a Captain (ME!) or anywhere in between. Allow me to go over them...

1) I may be your Captain, but in this crew, we are ALL EQUALS. I respect you, you respect me, and we all respect each-other, even if we're enemies in the process. (Repsecting enemies is even more important than respecting your allies.) To make the crew prosper, we must all act in sync; be joined in heart and soul, come together in times of trial, hold our brothers up when they fall. If you cannot show love for your fellow crewmates, you will not be allowed into "Schwa"-faction. That said, NO FLAMING. Should we ever find one of you hurting the feelings of a crewmate, you will be expelled and not allowed back in.

2) I am a Greeter on the side, and I enjoy helping greenies. But sometimes questions like, "Can I have Poez? Can I gun? Can I navigate? Can I be Officer? When do we port? When do we get paid? Selling bandanas!" gets old, and FAST. Consider this a list of the things to avoid saying. If you need money, your crew will probably pitch in to help, but don't harass the crew in a begging fashion. In pillages, only the OIC can Navigate, so don't ask, and you can generally gun if you're Renowned or higher. It depends on the OIC. You can NOT be Officer... More on that below. You get paid when we port. We port when we PORT. I don't like bandanas. There, I just answered all your questions.

3) Over time I have slowly honed the little skill I had in Bnav until it expanded, filling me with Bnav excellence. (That isn't to say I'm like Icehead or Fenrir or Distance... I make mistakes like any human.) But no matter how good I am at Bnav, I need your help to win. These are the rules in pillages:

-When you get on the boat, get to a station and stay there the WHOLE time. Do not ever get off your station. If you have to speak, use the Escape key. The station you take should follow this scheme:

  • Sloop* 3 sailors, 1 carper, 1 bilger, 1 gunner, 1 OIC.
  • Cutter* 5 sailors, 1 carper, 1 bilger, 1 or 2 gunners, 1 OIC. Fill Carp and Bilge if all sails are already full.
  • War Brig* 2 carpers, 2 bilgers, all the rest on sails. 2 to 4 gunners. 1 OIC. Fill Carp and Bilge if all sails are already full.

-If ordered to a station, go there. If you suck at the station, tell the OIC in Vessel chat (NOT in Tell). He or she will try to switch you to a station that works, but won't always be able to. You get a raise if you go to a station you suck at without complaining.

-In Swordfight AND Rumble, make Teams of 3. Click on their heads to team on them. Make 3 dots next to each enemy. I cannot stress this enough. I've had perfect Bnav battles and STILL lost because people don't team. Then they blame the loss on me for bad Bnav. IF YOU DO NOT TEAM, WE. WILL. DIE. IN A PILLAGE. ALWAYS teams of 3. Don't solo, 'cause one Pirate isn't strong enough to take out a Brigand swabbie. Don't team in 4 or more, because if you do the target's defense rises. (Proven fact!) (Don't forget, an Orange dot is 5. Avoid 5s.)

-You can join the crew AFTER the pillage. Don't ask until then, unless you have to leave early.

-No back-seat driving. I know what I'm doing in a Bnav session, unless I say "Pray." Then you can start to worry. XD

4) This rule is about promotions. ALL promotions are based on leadership and trust, as you will see. You can have 10 Grand Frigates and have stats higher than Whitell's and not be allowed above Cabin Person if we don't trust you. On the other hand, you could be Novice-Able everything and be promoted to SO if we trust you. (See Promotion Requirements Below)

5) Do not fear the Officers in this crew. We are a family. Talk to us, get to know us! Use Crew Chat to say hi, not Tells. You have nothing to hide! This crew is for you if you feel your crew is your family, don't forget that.

That covers all basic rules in my crew. Advanced rules are in the Private Statement. I hope you decide to join-- we have a lot of fun. Don't be afraid to ask. Dismissed! =D

Promotion Requirements

  • Cabin Person: Join the crew.
  • Pirate: Join the crew after a pillage that you've pulled your weight on... OR, go on one pillage with us, stay the whole time, and pull your weight.
  • Officer: This one's tricky. You will become Officer once all the Officers and I have seen that you have immense leadership in your personality. Stats have only have a little part to being an officer, you need Broad Battle Navigation. When you're on the right road to promotion, I will say to you in a Tell, "You're on your way to becoming an Officer, keep up the good work". That's a good thing to hear from a Captain. ;)
  • Fleet Officer: If you're Officer and you've been doing a great job at pulling that rank, you will become FO. Doesn't take long, normally.
  • Senior Officer: Once the other Officers and I think you're ready, you will endure a great trial called the Trial of Honor. You must Bnav against me, any Sloop you'd like versus my Sloop "Heron Warp". You will be allowed to bring any hearties or crewmates you'd like, but you will not be allowed to use the Job Offer feature to get your crew on board. I will not only try to beat you in the Bnav session, I will deliberately try to stress you out with the moves I place. You do not have to WIN to pass the test... You have to display leadership, honor, trust and courage in order to pass. Only then will you be promoted.
