Image tags

Hidey ho, thanks for helping with uploading portraits for infoboxes. Don't forget to put an image tag in the summary field when uploading. You can find a list of appropriate tags at YPPedia:Image_tags. Let me know if you have any questions. --Guppymomma 10:59, 26 October 2006 (PDT)

Re: Admin nom

You're right, I worded my comment a little more negatively than it should have been. Before I contribute support to a user's nomination (or opposition), I appreciate interacting with them in the game some (per my standards). Since my only interaction with you in-game (and this wasn't personal, so I'm sure I had a poor first impression) was some rather spammy messages you sent in a crowded inn concerning the Flag 50/50 raffle. As such, I'd like to get to know you more first—I'm sure you're a great guy; I just don't know you well enough to support or oppose your ability to resolve disputes. Don't get your hopes down if this admin nomination fails. Keep contributing, and you will be noticed. :) Yaten talk 14:45, 26 October 2006 (PDT)

Page Deletion

Ahoy mate. I saw you requested deletion for a crew page. I just thought you might want to know that a crew no longer existing in game is not really grounds for deleting a page. There is a special crew infobox for it. {{crew infobox(defunct)}} in the case of Pirates of the sinder I think use of the defunct info box would be more appropriate. We have to assume we existed at one point in the game. Also the crew's Captain and SOs still exist so there are pirates around that could still contribute to the article and let us know what happened to them. Perhaps they changed the name or moved merged with another crew. I have left the delete tag for now but I marked the crew as defunct with the special template. If you don't know about it you should probably look it up. There is also a similar one for flag pages. --Kgarrett1969 08:10, 27 October 2006 (PDT)

Ahoy! I noticed you adding deletion tags to a number of pages. The idea of deleting pages solely because they don't have enough information makes me a bit uneasy. Specifically, I feel that Saga and Shadow Company (Sage) do not merit deletion. Both of those flags participated in a blockade, and so are linked from their respective oceans' blockade histories. Shadow Company in particular was a massive power during the beginning of Sage, and as such, it absolutely merits a page. The stub categories are meant to tag pages in need of more information. I know there are many stubs in need of help, but that's the nature of this wiki. --Zava 18:00, 29 October 2006 (PST)
There is no pressing need to preserve space on YPPedia. This was directly told to us by the Ringers. We also have a policy in place that pages will not be deleted for having scant content. Being a stub for an extended time is also not grounds for deletion as far as I am concerned either. YPPedia talk:Policies and guidelines/piratearticlesrevamp has the discussion/voting that went on. There are probably spots where those policies should be added to the YPPedia namespace, feel free to point that out on their talk pages for a quick discussion before implementation. --Guppymomma 06:20, 30 October 2006 (PST)

Pipe symbol

To get the pipe (|) symbol on a UK keyboard, press SHIFT + \ (left of Z). Even though it looks like the broken pipe (¦) on some keyboards, in Windows and Linux, you get the pipe. --Nicksterv 14:11, 29 October 2006 (PST)

Toaster

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I'd been expecting that hosting to go dead at some point between now and December, and I guess it finally did. Anyway, link has been updated. --Ponytailguy 05:45, 30 October 2006 (PST)

User pages

Please do not move User: pages into the main namespace. There may be a reason that a player has chosen to leave their pirate page on their User page. Always ask first. --Barrister 05:29, 31 October 2006 (PST)

Illustration needs

Ahoy there. If you have the inclination, take a look at Category:Illustration needed. There are dozens of very basic articles in the YPPedia that could use an illustration or screenshot. Most of these are in the categories [[Category:Terminology or Category:Gameplay, articles that really ought to form the core of the YPPedia's functionality. Even if you don't (or can't) add screenshots yourself, trolling through those articles and tagging the ones that ones need screenshots would be a huge step in the right direction. This is arguably of even greater importance than cleanup on flag, crew, and pirate articles as our last available statistics showed that that set had low usage compared to the articles on the game itself.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions.--Fiddler 08:15, 31 October 2006 (PST)

Thanks!

Thanks for moving my pirate page to the correct category for pirates. By the way how did u do that, i've been trying to figure that out for days. Thanks again -Texcalibur S/O of Imperial Dragons

Crew Pages for various The Black Sheep Crews

I was creating the templates for for practice, and to give the crews something to start with. (As a kind act from a Flag Mate.) Some have started to update their pages, and I think one may be defunct. For the ones that don't update their pages, just wait till the end of the week, then delete them. (I won't protest.) For the ones that do, many are first time wiki users, so be gentle. --Alleahswiki 21:01, 31 October 2006 (PST)

Hi Whitemonkey, No problem on having bad days and feeling grouchy. I work support desk for the IT department of a large hospital organization, so I know the feeling. (And yet, I have to sound CHEERFUL as I bang my head into the monitor.) I found out what two of the crews are, and Tamitee said those crews do not need pages (wolf in sheeps clothing and PoE hunter.) As soon as I remember the tag, I'll mark them for deletion. --Alleahswiki 00:09, 5 November 2006 (PST)

FanFam

The information on the crew page is currently correct. (Ignore the fact that Piplicus isn't actually the captain, but instead his alt; I haven't moved my main back in yet). --Piplicus 07:35, 2 November 2006 (PST)

Re: Goldenlike

According to the block log, Goldenlike was blocked at 00:31 for a month, then banned permanently at 00:52. Because this is a different account, the previous ban did not apply, but this new account was blocked soon after the vandalism had taken place. Thanks --Nicksterv (t/c) 04:41, 4 November 2006 (PST)

Special pages -> Logs. --Guppymomma 07:44, 4 November 2006 (PST)
Also, make sure you're editing the User talk page, and not the user page. If you had checked the talk page, you would have seen that Ponytailguy had already left a message informing the user of the block. Thanks. --Fannon 10:27, 4 November 2006 (PST)

The bloody pirates

Just for future reference, "this page hasn't been updated in a long time" isn't grounds for deletion. Keep up the good work, in any event! --Ponytailguy 18:59, 4 November 2006 (PST)
