Kiss Me Mate is a crew on the Midnight Ocean, founded on July 27, 2005.
History
Kiss Me Mate was formed in a joint effort by Leisan, officer of the crew The Fierce Bulldogs and Lady of the flag The Determined Bulldogs, and Minke, officer of The Fierce Bulldogs, on July 27, 2005, with Leisan as Captain and Minke as Senior Officer - an insane plan hatched in the back room of the Twelve Steppes Inn. The crew quickly expanded with the addition of Argro as a Senior Officer, and has grown steadily.
Argro's hearty Zukisu, then a member of the crew Soaring Gulls, introduced Leisan to Featherfin, and later Leisan and Argro to Muffynz, diplomats of the flag Silver Dawn. On August 10, 2005, Kiss Me Mate was invited to fly the flag of Silver Dawn and agreed.
The crew's first steps in trade were made by Leisan and Argro on Wrasse and Ostreum where they each opened an Iron monger and distillery. Later Kiss Me Mate moved it’s activities to the Ruby archipelago, with Zukisu’s Tailoring Stall and Leisan’s Weavery on the Isle of Luthien.
Current Kiss Me Mate stalls are: Yellowbin's Iron monger on the Isle of Luthien and Desdinova's Shipyard on Eta Island.
The name Kiss Me Mate comes from the musical "Kiss Me, Kate", which is a modern retelling of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew"; the crew frequenty makes poor Will'm turn in his grave. The crew's colors are white and blue, and their flag displays a crossed quill and rapier.
On June 24, 2006, Leisan retired from the captaincy and Nirrod was elected as the new Captain. On August 9, 2006, the crew left the flag Silver Dawn and happily reunited with former Silver Dawn crew Death or Glory, joining the Midnight Marauders. Nirrod, contemplating leaving the game in favor of more dragon-filled, if less green, pastures, handed over the Captain's hat to Skycypher, in early March 2007.
