Promotion requirements
Ranking in this crew is determined by your skills and experience. The captain may deviate as he sees fit.
Cabin person - All novice skills, or as punishment
Pirate - Typical starting rank
Officer - Broad sails, bilge, carp, and Dnav, narrow Bnav experience. Training cruise may be necessary if we do not know how you will handle commanding a pilly
Fleet officer - Solid sails, bilge, carp and dnav, broad guns and bnav plus build trust with SO's and/or Captain and have experience commanding a ship.
Senior officer - All of the FO requirements, plus the Captain's OK. Do not ask for it, or you won't get it soon.
Officers and above are encouraged to recommend advancement to those they believe to be fit even if requirements have not been met otherwise.
One final note on promotions: Comparing stats to someone of higher rank and using that to justify promotion won't work. There likely is a reason you can't see for the rank. If I were to accept that as justification, then I would have to turn the captaincy over to Clock.
