Game concept
A furnishing puzzle hybrid of 'Lights Out' & 'Destruct-o-match' (Son of Projects Manta and Guppy). Use enamel to color rectangular areas of wood the same color, then cut them out for varnishing.
Objective
Make as many profitable orders of prepared wood as possible for the given amount of varnish
Gameplay
A board is generated with tiles of various colors in a 10x10 grid; jars of red, blue, and yellow enamel; planer; and a saw.
Enamel
The jars of red, blue, and yellow enamel are displayed below the grid. Different levels have different amounts of dye. Each jar can be used a single time.
Click a jar of enamel, then hover over a tile. Enamel will modify the colors of the tiles using a 3x3 footprint. The center tile will turn the color of the enamel, no matter what color is present (as long as there is wood there, of course). The four non-corner tiles will be modified, with the new color determined from the combination of current color and enamel color. The corner tiles will not change. Click to apply the enamel.
Planer
A planer is also displayed below the grid. The planer can only be used a limited number of times before it breaks (thus becoming unusable), the number of times varies by difficulty level.
Click the planer, hover over a spot. The Planer will modify a 3x1 strip of tiles, including the center tile and the adjacent space on each side either horizontally or vertically. The affected tiles will change colors determined by their current color. Red, blue, yellow, and brown turn tan; green and purple turn blue; orange turns red; any affected tan wood is lost (forming a gap on the board and point deduction).
Saw
When you are ready to harvest wood, click on the saw.
Click the four corners of a rectangular patch of a matching tiles to remove the section; the area is scored and the varnish level in the vat drops one notch. If the player wishes, they can continue cutting sections in this manner; if a harvested section matches the color of the previous section, its value is multiplied.
When finished with the saw, click on the saw space again. Any voids in the field are then refilled, with randomly generated pieces pushing in towards the center of the board.
Bonus Pieces
Randomly, based on the score of sections harvested, bonus pieces are generated among the board refills. These pieces have various effects and are collected during harvesting.
