Should probably mention the new stuff that happens when ramming (ships turn, but I'm not certain of the exact information on this). --Thunderbird 01:29, 7 July 2006 (PDT)
Rock collisions vs. Ship collisions
Note that while I'm certain the numbers are correct for ship vs. wall/rock collisions, there appears to be a more complex equation for ship vs. ship collisions. I've certainly seen different damage than what "should" have been taken based on these calculations, particularly when ships were of significantly different sizes (war brig vs. grand frig, for example).
I plan to do some PVP testing of ship v. ship damage soon, and try to come up with some solid numbers for that, which is why I changed the order of the description, expecting to need to change the ship v. ship description. --Blackfletch 10:24, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- I've always thought it to be a ram with anything = .5 damage. --Sagacious (talk) 11:56, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Since that's the case for sloops, and close enough for cutters, that's how most people think of bumps. But it's definitely not the case for larger ships. --Blackfletch 16:24, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
Just did a little testing. Sloop vs. Merch Brig and War Frig vs. Grand Frig. All collisions were one ship T-boning the other, and in all cases damage came out as predicted. Got hit by brigands while waiting for weary to wear off and got frustrated before going to test multi-move collisions. --Blackfletch 20:47, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
