YARRG is Yet Another Revenue Research Gatherer. It is a third party tool for collecting, sharing, and analyzing data on commodity prices around the oceans.
One of YARRG's key features is its sophisticated optimal trade voyage searcher/planner.
It is a competitor to and/or collaborator with PCTB. It is maintained by pirates from the crew Special Circumstances on the Midnight ocean.
Like PCTB, it has a shared database and an upload client. Currently the upload client runs on Windows and Linux; a MacOS port ought to be straightforward but none of the members of Special Circumstances use MacOS. The upload client submits data to both YARRG and PCTB, and is considerably faster than the PCTB OCR uploader.

Upload client
Note: As of Release 2015-05-28, the upload client on the official website can no longer upload market data when in a building on an island. Uploading market data from a ship still works.

Alternate databases
Besides the SQLite versions of the island market date databases from the official developers page, Tab-seperated-value versions can be found at http://www.schlitt.net/yohoho/marketdata along with some related databases. Since the YARRG versions of the databases only get updated once per day, these TSV versions are also updated only once per day. Uploading new YARRG data today won't show up until tomorrow.

These files are a collection of the information extracted from the yoweb island web pages, but put in TSV form that may be easier to use.

Ocean-wide market prices
These files contain the general, ocean-wide buy and sell prices for each commodity. The prices are about what you can expect to pay (or get) for each commodity if you have want a reasonable amount and are willing to sail a bit. They are not the absolute best prices you can get if you are only interested in a small amount and are willing to sail long distances. In practice, they are useful estimates and are designed to be similar to the sales tax value of each commodity, but there are not published sales tax values for all commodities, and when these "market values" differ noticeable from the tax value, there is an opportunity to make a profit. Also, there are separate buy and sell prices, where the sales tax has only one value.
