Whirled is Three Rings' third online project, a web-based social world for chat, games and player-created content. Whirled is currently in open beta, meaning it is open to the public for testing. Whirled activity is based around social groups and the currency they produce and consume. Currency can be earned by doing things like playing games with friends, earning achievements or uploading and selling new content.
About the Game
- Whirled features three currencies, two of which are similiar to doubloons and pieces of eight.
- The game contains a vast quantity of user created content - anyone can become a creator and upload their own content to whirled!
- Players can purchase their own rooms for a small fee then decorate them with furniture of their choice.
- Anyone who creates and sells an object in Whirled for bars can earn a small amount of bling which can be exchanged for bars or when an account has 500 bling or more, the account holder can cash out the bling for real life money!
- Players can create a group after paying a small fee in bars, groups allow collaboration with other players around shared interests, with shared group rooms, and built-in Discussion forums.
Technical Specifications
- Whirled was built in Flash 9 and Ajax, using Google's web toolkit (GWT), it runs entirely in a web-browser and has no download and install requirements.
- Whirled has been tested to run on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux on IE7, Firefox 2 & 3, and Safari. It runs best on Firefox 3 (beta). Browsers must have Flash Player installed and JavaScript enabled.
