User talk:Ellopoppet

From YPPedia

Ahoy! Don't forget to check the YPPedia style guide for the file-naming convention when uploading files. We like to have things named consistently, after all. For example, your image Weddingbanner.png should probably be called Art-artistname-Weddingbanner.png with artistname replaed by whatever the artist's name happens to be. --Belthazar451 07:21, 8 June 2008 (PDT)

Okies, can you help me get the avatar section to work? It won't drop down so I am able to show the next line of my avatars...
Fixed - you were missing the pipe symbol (|) between the image and the <div> tag on two of the images, so the wiki software was getting confused. --Belthazar451 07:29, 8 June 2008 (PDT)
Another thing to note is that images should have appropriate image tags - firstly so that the appropriate copyright message gets put on the image, and secondly so that the images can be categorised neatly. --Belthazar451 08:25, 8 June 2008 (PDT)
Yeah... I am not good at this at all. All of the avatars were bought by me and therefore owned by me. There is nothing trademarked or copyrighted.
Aye, and international copyright law requires us to make a note of that - hence the image tags. For example, the {{Avatar}} tag appends a note saying that it was created by one user on behalf of another, thus attributing the copyright to the owner. It's largely a technicality, but one we need to comply with, or risk all sorts of nasty legal stuff. If you feel like it, you can have a look through the GNU Free Documentaion License used by Wikipedia, or the Creative Commons Attribution License, which is used by us, among others. Both licenses are similar sort of things, but not exactly required reading, unless you want to get technical about things.
In the case of avatars, the format of the image tag is {{Avatar|artistname|recipientname}}, where both names are the forum user names. In your case, then, since the images were created for you, the recipientname should be Ellopoppet, whereas artistname is the username of the person who created it for you. Simply add the tag to the Summary field when uploading an image. If you're really not sure what to do, you can just leave it, and someone else will come along eventually and add a tag. --Belthazar451 08:36, 8 June 2008 (PDT)
