User rights
Ahoy! Is your article YPPedia:Users comprised of information from Wikipedia? Because the policy here is different, so most of it is incorrect. --Belthazar451 13:22, 29 November 2012 (PST)
- Ah, no I misread something. Just one bit is incorrect - you've implied unregistered users can edit pages. They can't. --Belthazar451 13:23, 29 November 2012 (PST)
While I do think seasonal variations might be something worth considering, and I do like the little blurb and information you've added underneath the image, I have to admit I'm not entirely sure that slapping a pair of trinket images on either side of the header makes it particularly festive. =P --Belthazar451 13:53, 29 November 2012 (PST)
Zeina
Hi, never used this feature before so sorry if I am using it incorrectly. Yes, Zeina is a pirate on the Cerulean ocean. Zeina is my pirate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zeinasway (talk • contribs)
User namespace pages
Generally only the user whose name appears in the name of the user namespace pages should be editing these pages. For that reason I have reverted the change you made to User:WikiPip. Obviously user and user talk namespaces are separate and have different guidelines. -- Faulkston 19:13, 29 November 2012 (PST)
The pirate article Bestofall already exists and should be edited instead of the user namespace page User:Bestofall123. There is also no real need to edit user namespace pages to eliminate redlinks to wanted articles and files. -- Faulkston 16:31, 30 December 2012 (PST)
- A last reminder to stop editing user namespace pages, removing a red link is not a good enough reason to unnecessarily edit other users namespace pages. --Clotho 10:01, 8 January 2013 (PST)
Building articles
Ahoy! If you're going to create building articles, it's better that you actually visit the building in order to get a screenshot, owners, managers and the erected date. Not to mention seeing if the building still exists at all. If you're not able to access the island, please leave the article creation to someone else - having a stub with basically zero information is worse than leaving a red link. --Belthazar451 01:00, 1 December 2012 (PST)
userspace archives
please stop screwing around with my archive page in my userspace. thank you. -- Franklincain (t/c) 19:51, 5 December 2012 (PST)
Re: Trophy Update
Faulkston's already done the first one, and (as he specifically told you) there's nothing preventing you from doing the second. --Belthazar451 11:42, 7 December 2012 (PST)
Ship scene images
For sake of consistency with the large numbers of existing ship scene images, a transparent background should not be used. It is not worthwhile to edit all of the existing images to add transparency. -- Faulkston 19:22, 9 December 2012 (PST)
Patience
Ahoy! Please be patient with other editors. According to the Yppedia:Editors' Code of Conduct, a general guideline would be to wait 15 minutes before you jump in to fix mistakes on the page they are working on. Even leaving them a message on their talk page with suggestions they can use to fix the page themselves is sometimes better. There is nothing more frustrating, especially for a new editor, then getting an edit conflict message on the screen. Looking at the edit history of Oceanpirate, you were removing the portrait from his infobox literally as he was in the process of uploading it. Fair winds! --Belthazar451 11:49, 11 December 2012 (PST)
Pirate article about Cirdan
If you'd like to work on the article about the pirate Cirdan, I've created such an article here. That would be better than editing a user namespace page. -- Faulkston 11:56, 11 December 2012 (PST)
Pirate portraits
Ahoy. Please take note that pirates have the right to use the portrait of their choosing on their pirate pages. There's no need to use a script to alert of such changes. Do not impose such preferences on users, it's their pirate and their portrait. Thank you. --Clotho 10:07, 18 December 2012 (PST)
Ocean merge
Hi, generally we have been retaining historical information about oceans in pirate/crew/flag pages. For example, I added this back to the Pacifit article, since he started on Sage. Also, if you update the ocean because of a merge, it is helpful to include some prose that indicates the ocean of origin as well. Pacifit already has this in the lede sentence. Thanks. Chupchup 10:14, 18 December 2012 (PST)
- Also, keep in mind when updating infoboxes that crew and flag IDs for entities formerly of Sage, Malachite and Cobalt were changed in the merge. --Belthazar451 12:39, 18 December 2012 (PST)
Trinket images
For the purposes of uniformity, the images of the toy part trinkets should be the standard size for trinket images - 36x39px. If nothing else, you wouldn't have to do that fine-tuning for the trinket templates. --Belthazar451 04:51, 20 December 2012 (PST)
- Please do re-upload the images correctly. It's better to double check before uploading images that are used for templates or information pages so the work doesn't have to be done twice. Thank you. -Clotho 17:05, 21 December 2012 (PST)
Warning
This is a notice that to protect the privacy of all our players, the same rules that apply to the forums apply on our wiki: "Chat logs, PMs and other communication methods without the express posted permission of all participants." For this reason, the posted quotes on your user page have been removed. Fair winds! --Clotho 17:10, 21 December 2012 (PST)
Edit frequency warnings
Ahoy! Generally we'll only consider posting the "please use preview button" warning when they're making well over ten edits in a short space of time. Six edits is not really worth commenting on. --Belthazar451 14:56, 28 December 2012 (PST)
- Six edits is not so many edits that it warrants using the frequency warning template. Please use this template only when you see over a dozen edits in less than a hour, or more than twenty in a single day. The warning can be off-putting to new editors, and should be used sparingly. Also, please acknowledge that you've seen my message here. Thanks. --Fiddler 07:11, 4 January 2013 (PST)
Line breaks after section headings
Regarding this edit, I can understand the other tweaks and the change to the "A" section which had too many line breaks underneath, but as for the other sections, they were fine already. Having a line break after a section heading is a valid option, and some people like it more for the space and clarity it offers. So I wouldn't go changing them unless there is another good reason I have not thought of. Chupchup 17:59, 1 January 2013 (PST)
Discussion opened
I have opened a discussion at YPPedia talk:Policies and guidelines#Government section in island articles about the latest edit. Chupchup 19:20, 1 January 2013 (PST)
Ringer files and pages
Please leave alone any files and pages created by various Three Rings employees, even if they are currently unused. Thanks! --Fiddler 12:22, 3 January 2013 (PST)
Cleanup instead of Delete
I noticed that you've been quite liberal with your use of the delete tag. Not all pages are worthy of deletion solely because the crew/flag no longer exists. If it is clear from the information on the page and from the fact that multiple pages link to it that at one time the crew existed, please add the defunct version of the infobox to the page and clean it up accordingly, rather than blanking all the content out of it. Specifically, the removal of all content from the page Evol Intent is borderline vandalism. The information on the page was encyclopedic in nature, if not stylized correctly. Please keep this in mind in the future. --Fannon 18:07, 3 January 2013 (PST)
Spelling
It is worth noting that "traveling" is valid American English, and this wiki does not mind too much which variant is used, but I think we can all agree that it should be uniform within one article. It is odd IMHO, that you changed "un-set" to "unset" yet you changed "rechart" to "re-chart". It seems to me that the non-hyphenated variants should be preferred, unless this is also a British English feature, in which case the original variant should be retained, unless there is a compelling reason to change it. Chupchup 11:14, 5 January 2013 (PST)
- Inbuilt chrome extension for grammar and spell checking ^_^ Currently running off US English so it's just picking up stuff. :P Avastme Talk 21:44, 5 January 2013 (PST)
- Please turn that off when editing this wiki. Because of the mix of British and American English in use, informal policy (really, a subset of policy 4) is to not change spellings if the word is properly spelled in either British or American English. --Fiddler 06:52, 8 January 2013 (PST)
"Trinket Update"
I'm going to delete this tag. The reason some trinkets are missing colors is because they don't necessarily even exist in game, and there is no reason to differentiate with this tag between those that legitimately need to be updated and those that may not even exist. If you feel like a new category needs to be added for a "cleanup" reason, please discuss it with an admin first. The system we have in place has worked pretty well and we don't really need *more* clutter. --Fannon 11:40, 6 January 2013 (PST)
Defunct crew/flag
When toggling a defunct crew or flag, please enter today's date, or if possible, the last known active date of the entity, in the update* parameters. These fields are usually updated when new information is added to the infobox, as you know; in the instance of Rising Phoenix-East, they were still active in February of 2012, and there is no way to get a date of deletion, so I set it to January 9, 2013. Thanks. Chupchup 21:49, 9 January 2013 (PST)
STOP, and revert all edits to GCPP project pages
Each GCPP project page is a document for the game developers to present their puzzle ideas. At this point, they are historical documents and shouldn't be altered further. The images are already categorized and linked to the project pages, there is no need to include them now. --Fiddler 22:42, 9 January 2013 (PST)
Slow down and check your work
In your rush to delete and re-categorize everything you've included bad name suggestions in several images tagged as misnamed. Please slow down and check that what you are typing is what you intended, or indeed appropriate. Thanks. --Fiddler 23:04, 9 January 2013 (PST)
