Draft rules for Shining Svanen Crew

Rules for all members

  1. Most importantly, this is a game, and about having fun. If something or someone makes you feel uncomfortable, then talk to an officer or another crew member whom you feel you can trust.
  2. Crew members are expected to act with grace and respect. Swearing, spamming, begging and dishonest behaviour are not tolerated.
  3. Occasionally officers will be engaged in training sessions, trading, or other voyages that are not appropriate for all members. Please ask permission to board a vessel unless an officer has already indicated a voyage open for all members.
  4. We have a forum at http://shiningsvanen.jconserv.net/ . You are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Rules for officers

  1. Any vessel you own is your responsibility. You may leave it locked or unlocked as you see fit.
  2. Please read the bulletin board on any vessel you intend to sail, and obey any rules there. If the stocking levels on the ship do not match that listed on the board, please choose another ship, and report this to a Senior Officer or to the Captain.
  3. If you take a vessel on a pillage, it is your responsibility to restock it. You must be prepared and able to restock from your private funds if the pillage does not raise sufficient cash for restocking.
  4. Any money left over from a pillage is yours.
  5. You are expected to set a good example for others, including being both a good winner and loser. If your sword breaks, your ship sinks, and monkeys mistake your cannon-balls for coconuts, then you are expected to take this with poise and grace.

Guidelines for promotion

  1. To become a pirate you must be able to spell "pirate". You must also possess a gunning rank of master or gunning experience of broad.
  2. Officers are selected by the captain based upon both their skills and attitude. Assisting others, having fun, obeying the rules, and showing a commitment to the crew are all looked upon favourably.
  3. Fleet Officers have consistently acted in the interests of the crew, and have undertaken training to demonstrate their ability to run a successful pillage.
  4. Senior Officers are selected by the captain to assist in the running of the crew. Attitude and commitment to the crew are the most important considerations for promotion.
