So you want a trinket page, huh?

This is a guide to help you create and maintain your very own trinket page on the YPPedia. There are many methods and styles for presenting your trinkets - this is one that I developed for myself and shared with many friends and flagmates.

This guide will show you how to:

 • create a basic pirate page
 • create the trinket page(s)
 • change entries in your trinket page(s)

Creating your pirate page

If you do not have a pirate page on the YPPedia, it is highly recommended you create one before you create your trinket page.

 1. Navigate to http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Name, where Name is your main pirate's name. If it exists, navigate to http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Name (Midnight) instead.
 2. Click on edit this page.
 3. Copy and paste the following code into the text box. Replace Fyre with your pirate name (four instances) and change the rank (twice), crew, and flag to reflect your pirate's information.

Fyre is a pirate on the Midnight Ocean.
She is currently the senior officer
of the crew Pirates of the Damned
and a member of the flag Crimson Tide.

 1. Click the Show Preview button at the bottom of the page. If you are happy with the result, click the Save Page button. Your pirate page is now published.
 2. At your leisure you can expand and update your picture by adding your pirate portrait and other relevant information. For more help, see the sample pirate page and the YPPeddia's policies and guidelines. You can also refer to my pirate page for more ideas about how to expand your YPPedia page.

Creating your trinket page

Updating your trinket page

Go to your new trinket page and click edit. Do not be overwhelmed! The code is organized in repeated patterns, and you will soon be able to navigate it with ease.

The code for your trinket page is organized in rows. The start of each row is marked with |-, after which follow fifteen lines beginning with |. These fifteen lines mark the fifteen cells in each row of your table; generally, each line in your trinket page represents one entry in your final table.

The first cell of many (if not all) of the rows ends with a trinket name. These cells can act as signposts to help you navigate - you can be sure that the following cells will contain that trinket.

Depending on the trinkets you own, you will want to mark trinkets as empty or full. Making changes using copy and paste to replace content is the easiest method, and also reduces the chance of mistakes.

Empty cells

An empty cell looks like this:

|<br />red

The above example is an empty cell for a red trinket.

Filled cells

The colorize trinket template is used to fill cells. A filled cell, in this case a red hemlock, looks like this:

|Hemlock red

Capitalization is important in this template. The trinket name should only have the first letter capitalized, such as Vial of venom, Jar of fog, and Starfish. The colour name is always lower-case and in the full form, such as red, light green, and indigo. Incorrect capitalization may result in errors on the page.
