Game concept

A inverse variation of Snake. You are moving a needle to make clothes.

Objective

You should stitch through all the existing holes before the twine is finished. The faster you are and the more twine rests, the better you are.

Gameplay

The board is a piece of cloth. The player is "navigating" a needle wich is trailing a twine behind it. It is the aim to stitch all the different pieces of the clothing together before the twine is finished. The needle can move in front of the cloth or behind it (the needle and the twine is shaded then).

Duties:

  • adjust different pieces of cloth together by making a special "knot".
  • attach buttons and other applications (borders, medals, ...) to the cloth
  • find a way but do not "crash" in the already made seam
  • find a short way through the puzzle

Scoring

The scoring can influenced by the follwing:

  • length of rest-twine
  • number of faults
  •  ?

Variability

The variable arrangement of different pieces and the applications are the cause that the way the needle should go are always different.

Stitch through all the button-holes all at once can give a bonus.

End criteria

The twine becomes shorter all the time. When it is finished, the game is finished, too.

Difficulty scaling

At the beginning there are not many holes where the twine should go through. It becomes more and more difficult with more holes and more applications that needed to be attached to the cloth.

Crafting type

Tailoring

Known problems

Well ... the puzzle is not yet finished. I hope it is a good idea, and you critizise a bit (with some helpful ideas) to let this be the upcomming taloring-puzzle.

Some "problems" that should be dicussed.

  • Should the needle be always going up and down (like usually at sewing) ... then the needle can not be beyond the cloth. But if the needle is not going up and down there can not be a seam. Thats a bit silly ... I loved the idea oth the two sides.
  • How can different clothes been adjusted toghether. May be there are two holes they needed to be sewed together. E.g. first hole down, second hole up, first hole up.
  • How can somethink be attached to the cloth?
    • Button: a small button has two holes. Up in one button, down in the other. The bigger buttons have four holes. Other applcations can have holes too but arranged in an other way.
    • Borders: Move the needle along a zone and make a special "knot"
