Tide of Fate was founded by Dansel in the year of 2005 on the 16th of May. The flag started promisingly, and reached the top 10 flags within its first month. Its speedy ascension through the ranks attracted the attention of several distinguished crews, notably Ultimate Inferno and Retribution, captained by Soldato and Khari respectively. The flag also adopted many small amateur crews, which would impact greatly on the young flag later.

Although the flag was reasonably small, what it lacked in size was compensated by its dedicated members, and their overall close affiliation with each other. With an initially loyal royalty, Dansel swiftly led Tide of Fate to the top five. The flag competed fiercely with much larger and more experienced flags such as Something Powerful and Hurricane. However, towards the end of July, just under three months of its creation, Tide of Fate reached #1 in the ocean. Throughout the months between August and November (2005), the inexperienced flag indecisively wavered at the top.

After a series of disputes between two outstanding crews, the members became irritated and the flag chat became somewhat squalid. Many of the verdant crews Dansel had placed trust in became unreliable. After a while, Ultimate Inferno left abruptly, and the flag started slipping down the ranks.

The startling loss of Soldato's crew sent Tide of Fate into chaos, and come December, the flag decided to hold a meeting. During the discussions, many arguments associated with want for internal power arose, and Tide of Fate lost some highly regarded crews during that time. Tide of Fate started 2006 bitterly, but with determination. Rumours of the flag's interior mayhem spread quickly around the ocean, giving them several critics.

The first two months of 2006 were spent repairing the damaged flag, forming strong alliances (notably Hurricane and Impavidus Formido) and maintaining their relative stability. The flag still hosted some very loyal crews, and come March, it was back in business. It took an additional two months to regain its former high status.

However, as more blockade events occured on Cobalt, many speculated about Tide of Fate trying their luck with one. Dansel held the deeds to many large warships, notably a highly regarded War Brig (coloured maroon and white - the flag colours), however he was uncertain. The flag were still fairly inexperienced, and although many of the members of the monarch's crew splintered off and created their own to join the flag, which had boosted its members and status, Tide of Fate still had very few exceptional battle navigators - a puny amount compared to formidable opponents such as Something Powerful.

Many members of Tide of Fate urged Dansel to place a war chest on Dendrite Island, an upcoming blockade. Dansel still resumed his opinion - the flag lacked the man-power. Therefore, come the first blockade of Dendrite, Tide of Fate did not drop a war chest. They entered the blockade briefly in a sloop, but were sunk (some speculate they intentionally sunk themselves to get an injury). Bigboyatitd received an eyepatch from the event (A highly esteemed royalty). The flag only saw more frustrated members leave to find higher ranks or form their own flags. A mutinous plot to overthrow Dansel and control the flag originated from an unregarded crew within. The mutineers' motives were unclear, although the most likely reason was to gain the power they needed to colonise an island for themselves.

Once again, Tide of Fate plummetted into utter chaos. After suffering large desertion, the young flag dropped completely from the tables, descending to Mostly Harmless. The few loyal members that stayed, notably Dansel's main senior officer Captnsilver, and Captain's of smaller crews such as Savonne of Dawn of Rage and Lilguy of The Crew That Will Kill, and loyal crew members such as Bigboyatitd, Charlybabe, Topdogman, Kevinthefrui, Vinchenza, Kazbo and several others, kicked the mutineers and started to rebuild the destroyed flag. Despite the loyalists' efforts, Tide of Fate fell apart under the strain of politics, and the formerly glorious flag perished and became defunct. It still exists on Cobalt, as a blip of what it once was.

Near the end of 2006, the flag's two year span ended, and many left. The majority of the flag's inheritance (ships, stalls etc.) went to Savonne, one of the few who remained playing after the flag's downfall.

Dansel crew-hopped around Cobalt for some time, mainly staying in flags like No Quarter Given and Polaris. Currently, he is playing as Philanderer, a Fleet Officer in the crew Play Things . Most of the former members of Tide of Fate have left or gone dormant, excluding Charlybabe and Topdogman.
