Template talk:Contestentry

From YPPedia

{{Contestentry|artistname|contestname}}

Place the text above in the image summary when you upload an image. Or you can later edit the image's description page to include the tag without reuploading the image. Replace artistname with the actual forum name of the artist. For contestname you can just use the name of the contest, but if there is a forum post for the contest, use a link and 2= (due to the way YPPedia reads template info with = in it). For example {{Contestentry|Nemo|2=[http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=27704 Portrait background contest]}} will make a link to the post for the portrait background contest.

Is this template only for use in contests which involve familiars, as it says on YPPedia:Image tags? I ask because want to re-tag Image:BoNB_golden_ticket_footer.png with something more appropriate, but I don't believe it was from the Fan Arrrt thread, and I believe the BOnB logo did originally come from a forum contest. Actually, a good number of the pages using this template are Portrait Contest entries; should I re-tag them with the tag we have for that, while I'm at it? --Emufarmers 14:24, 22 June 2006 (PDT)

Re:Image:BoNB_golden_ticket_footer.png - go ahead and tag it, after you find the contest thread. Really, this tag should be used on any image that was entered for a contest as long as you can link to either the thread or the Art: article about the contest.
Re:Portrait contest entries - Several of the images you're looking at are in both categories already. The few that aren't either are prior versions of winning entries or have been disqualified due to collaging.--Fiddler 16:36, 22 June 2006 (PDT)
Alright; I found the thread, but it doesn't seem to allow url links on the template; only piped ones.
Is there a reason we do it like that with the portrait entries? Why not use {{portraitbackground}} for entries, and then {{portraitbackgroundwinner}} for winners, to keep things straight? --Emufarmers 17:03, 22 June 2006 (PDT)
See the example above to make a link to the forum thread.
Look at tihs image. It won the contest so it has been removed from the category of actively under consideration images and placed in the retired background and in the general contest categories. This image, which was a prior version of that one, is not eligible for the portrait contest anymore since the later version of it already won. But it's not a retired background either, so it's only placed in the general contest entry category. this category is only for images that Nemo is actively considering for the contest. Make sense?--Fiddler 17:38, 22 June 2006 (PDT)
Hmm, yeah, that's what I guessed...But I suppose if the other category is just to keep them all together so Nemo can look at them, then we can use this one otherwise. Thanks for the explanation. :) --Emufarmers 18:24, 22 June 2006 (PDT)
