Talk:Silversnap

From YPPedia

"Silversnap was also the first person to mem the whole of the Sage ocean." Is there any way to verify this? --Fannon 15:31, 7 February 2006 (PST)

She posted a portrait with a globe shortly after she'd finished. Though the Bowditch-Scurvy Reef route showed up about a month or two after that happened. --Thunderbird 15:34, 7 February 2006 (PST)

My point was more that I know a few people who have finished memming oceans, and don't announce it. *shrugs* Not that I'm unimpressed, it's a pretty large accomplishment. And 40 days... wow. I just don't see any surefire way of verifying that she was indeed the very first. --Fannon 15:48, 7 February 2006 (PST)
The portrait is pretty reliable since it contains an in-game date stamp. My Cobalt alt was the first to mem that ocean and did the same thing. Those of us who raced to mem that ocean knew who each other were since we had to trade charts frequently. I'm comfortable taking the portrait as evidence. --Barrister 16:44, 7 February 2006 (PST)

I've only just discovered this discussion, many months late. Some points were raised that I would like to answer.

1. Fannon, I'm sure you do know a few people who have finished memming oceans, but only one person can be the first on each ocean, thus making it a more interesting achievement and at the time I thought worthy of my wiki page, especailly as the page was looking a bit bare before I won my second familiar.

2. Fannon again. You ask if it can be verified. There can be no "official" verification that I was first - I asked the OMs this at the time. But remember that there was not the same intense competion to be first to mem Sage as there was with Hunter - there were no prizes and there was an air of friendly competition. I have screenshots of the nav experience table for every day of that period if you would like to see, I have the datestamped portrait, and Scarymuffin, who was second to finish, will confirm that I was first. Barrister's description of memming Cobalt sums it up nicely (thank you Barrister).

3. Regarding the route that was discovered later, I was very fortunate that Scarymuffin told me about it as soon as he knew of it and he allowed me to mem it before him, thus maintaining my position as first memmer. Daggerdarla was third and Quuenpharaoh was fourth. As far as any of us were aware, there was no other person who had memmed the ocean at that time.
