Talk:Lunar Rogues/ships
From YPPedia
I don't think this is something that really belongs on the wiki. The only difference between this list and the in-game "Whare are my vessels" is that this page lists the ship owners. And this list will also need updating every time a new ship is added to the crew. This type of information is really best suited for a private crew forum rather than the wiki.--Fiddler 10:37, 6 February 2007 (PST)
- You know, I officially give up. I try to do everything neatly, so no one can have any serious objection to it. I shove this away on a page almost no one will know even exists, yet alone care about. And yet, you come here and tell me all my work was for nothing. Why does anyone else care that it has to be updated every time a new ship is added? How does it affect anyone in any way? --Thefirstdude 10:41, 6 February 2007 (PST)
- I'm sorry you feel that anyone has singled you out. That's not our intent. However, please keep in mind that the wiki is meant as an encyclopedia: a resource for sharing and recording information. In order for it to be useful, information should be verifiable and (when appropriate) updateable. This is the reason we've always blocked individual pirate stats (like Sublime/Able Sailing). The information changes too rapidly to be tracked. In the case of crew ships, only those people within the crew will be able to update the list. I agree with Fiddler that this information is best suited for a crew forum. The wiki is not a good substitute for such a resource. --Barrister 17:25, 7 February 2007 (PST)
- I never said anything about being singled out, or updateability. I simply asked why anyone cares, or should care. It does not seem to me to affect the encyclopedic nature of the YPPedia. Most pirate pages contain information that can only be written and/or updated by one person. I do not see how, say, a trinket or pet list on a pirate page is different from this list. Or, indeed, Silverdawg's impressive list of familiars. Certainly familiars are a little different, but same idea. --Thefirstdude 17:28, 9 February 2007 (PST)
