Talk:List of decay rates

From YPPedia

o rly?

I could have sworn that the stick dusted... it's just replaced by another stick. --Teeg 14:48, 16 February 2006 (PST)

I've had a backsword for many months on Midnight now (about a week after the retail game came out). I still have a stick. By that logic, if the stick actually dusted, I wouldn't have one by now. --Thunderbird 14:51, 16 February 2006 (PST)
I think sticks used to dust, but no longer do so. Not sure, though. I'm certain, however, that today's sticks don't dust. --Barrister 15:44, 16 February 2006 (PST)

6 more days

6 more days, and I'll have verified nearly all the remaining clothing items. My luck at the poker table is continuing, so I'll probably buy the swords when that happens. FYI, I seem to be off by exactly one day on these clothing items. I'm really hoping this doesn't affect my saber decay test. --Barrister 01:29, 2 March 2006 (PST)

My "Vest and scarf (female)" just went "good". It appears to have had a 16-day "new" duration. That's not one of the known decay cycles, but I'd guess it represents a 75-day decay cycle. Next week, I'll buy a new one and start tracking it from the beginning to the end. --Barrister 00:17, 6 March 2006 (PST)

Decay rate projections

I'm going to take some guesses on decay rates:

  • Both female rags: 30 days
  • Crown and Tiara: 90 days, or 120 if that period exists (these are expensive)
  • Cleaver: This has been rumored to last for 120 days. It's probably either that or 90.

The Leather gloves Bia gave me the first night are Good as well - Puts them in the 30-day category? (Has it really only been a week?) --Zava 13:56, 9 March 2006 (PST)

I'd wait on the rumble gloves until they're released to the production oceans. --Barrister 18:33, 9 March 2006 (PST)
Yeah, before the last update all of the bludgeons appeared to be on 30 day period schedules. However, my hammer was old yesterday, it's good now. So they may have changed. I removed the Belaying Pin from the decay rate list for now. --Thunderbird 23:34, 27 March 2006 (PST)

I'm pretty sure that the Short Sword, Dirk, and Stiletto all decay at 30 days. -- Hokum 16:47, 12 March 2006 (PST)

swords

I have purchased one of every sword type (except backsword, foil, and saber). I'll take delivery in a few days, and then start the countdown. --Barrister 17:20, 18 March 2006 (PST)

Bone bludgeon

While I was not exactly keeping track of the decay until it turned old, it dusted yesterday (10 days after turning old), so it matches the 30-day decay period precisely. Seems accurate, but again I do not know exactly when I received it or when it turned good. Is it safe to assume it's on the 30-day, or should we wait for someone to get a brand new bone to test? --Rixation(t/c) 12:23, 17 May 2006 (PDT)

Can you check your logs to see when you won it? --Barrister 13:57, 17 May 2006 (PDT)
I didn't win it, I purchased it from another player while it was new, but didn't notice when it turned good. When I finally did notice it was good, I start monitoring it daily for when it turned old which was 6 days (but again, it likely turned good before I noticed it), then 10 days later it dusted. --Rixation(t/c) 14:31, 17 May 2006 (PDT)

Update: a bone user on Midnight just confirmed that new to good was 7 days, which matches the 30 day cycle I saw for old to dust. --Rixation(t/c) 18:24, 17 May 2006 (PDT)

Excellent! Thanks for getting confirmation. --Barrister 23:38, 17 May 2006 (PDT)

Charts on ship vs on person

My understanding (which may be outdated) is that charts degrade at a different rate if they are on a ship vs. being carried on your person. Should this be distinguished in the lists? I notice inter-arch charts are listed in two places. Is one the decay rate on a ship and one the decay rate when being carried in Booty? Fuzzybeard 00:37, 17 August 2006 (PDT)

Intra-archipelago charts decay at a different rate than inter-archipelago charts. That's why there are two entries. The decay rate for a given chart is the same no matter whether it is held on a person or on a ship. The difference is that the chart held on a person will not decay unless the person logs in. Charts on ships continue to decay even when the ship is unused. --Barrister 00:49, 17 August 2006 (PDT)

1 day list

Funny glasses are listed as one calendar day. Is there actually a difference between 1 login day and 1 calendar day for that? --Thunderbird 01:20, 27 February 2012 (PST)

The other seasonal clothing is measured in calendar days - Christmas hats, masks, laurel of triumph. Chupchup 05:33, 27 February 2012 (PST)
