Talk:Hyllus

Still current

Being that the OMs have not deleted this pirate, except on Ice, there is no good rationale for using past-tense to describe a current status. It could be argued that this is an abandoned event character, but I have seen no definitive evidence of that. Chupchup 16:39, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Also, using past tense unnecessarily opens the door to questions such as "Is he now an OM? Is he now employed by them?" Chupchup 17:17, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
If you have a problem with the exact wording I used, fix it. It makes zero sense to say he wasn't an employee of a company that wouldn't exist for many more years. You're compulsively changing even uses of three rings that shouldn't be changed, and you reverted an attempt to fix your mistake. --Budclare2 03:58, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
It is not compulsion to bring the article up-to-date, and I would request that you try not to impute motives and mental defects to my editing style. As it stands, the pirate exists. wikipedia:MOS:TENSE indicates we should prefer present-tense wherever possible, unless an entity does not meaningfully exist. In order to describe the current situation, rather than describe what existed in an unspecified past period, we'll use present tense and the presently existing company, of which Hyllus is not an employee. If you want to add historical notes that he was not hired by Three Rings originally either, I wouldn't object to a running commentary, but it seems fair to simply say what is and not what ever was.
